Black Lantern Collective and Momentum Games have opened early access for Athanasia, a horror FPS on Steam for PC priced at 2,050 yen, with a 10% discount until November 3. Players control researcher Carmen Flores in a facility overrun by dinosaurs, using observation, crafting, and hacking to survive. The full 1.0 version is planned for around mid-2027, and three levels will be added through updates during early access.
Sammy's smartphone Texas Hold'em app m HOLD'EM runs the second half of its revival collaboration with the Virtual esports Project VSPO! from Monday, October 19 to Sunday, November 8, 2026. VSPO! members Sumire Haname, Hinano Tachibana, Beni Yakumo, and Meto Komori return in a revival appearance, bringing revival avatars, newly drawn and fully voiced stamps, plus collaboration playing cards and trophies obtainable during the period. The app is free with in-app purchases on iOS and Android.
The CGWORLD 2026 Creative Conference runs December 6 at Ariake Central Tower Hall & Conference in Tokyo, free with advance registration. Animator and character designer Hanabushi drew the key visual under the theme "Creators connect. Beyond that." The first session round includes Framestore on its VFX work for "Project Hail Mary," Riot Games and Agora Community on facial animation, Whatever Co. on the Kao horror game "Shizukana Osouji," and Universal Entertainment on amusement machine video made with Unreal Engine.
Hanamiriro's Alice and the Other Side launched on PC via Steam on October 16 through publisher 2P Games, with Japanese in-game text. The single-player card adventure sets Alice in a fairy-tale world built from cards arranged on a 3x2 grid. Steam user reviews sit at Very Positive, with 99 percent of 171 reviews positive. Enemies can be fought, observed, greeted, or bribed, and the developer says it will keep patching.
At a D3 Publisher creator talk at Tokyo Game Show on September 18, School Ghost Stories designer Takiya Iijima said the game's scenario has not changed but its rating moved from CERO B to CERO D under modern standards, and that some scenarios might now be rated CERO Z or shelved. He spoke alongside producer Shunsuke Fujita.
HanaBee has opened preorders on Amazon.co.jp for a 1/6 scale figure of Panda Nikuman-chan, an original character by illustrator Ogipote. The painted PVC and ABS figure stands about 255mm including its base and costs 24,200 yen, with a deluxe edition at 27,500 yen that adds an original art bonus. Both are scheduled for release on July 31, 2027.
Kadokawa revealed the first main promotional video, main visual, and 2027 debut for the television anime of Ichi Yukishiro's Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter. Kana Hanazawa voices Eve, a girl abandoned in the Forest of Scraps, and Kazuhiko Inoue voices Nemu, the skull dragon who raised her. Kuniyasu Nishina directs at Doga Kobou, with Yuka Yamada on series scripts and Tomoya Atsumi designing characters.
Hanamaruki's Sugu Uma Cup Miso Soup line and the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will release six limited packages drawn by ufotable, shipping from mid-October 2026 to supermarkets, mass retailers, and drugstores nationwide. Tanjiro Kamado, Giyu Tomioka, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, and Shinobu Kocho appear across the six varieties, which include fried eggplant, spinach, tonjiru, tororo kombu, seaweed with aosa, and long green onion.

Toge Productions announced that the prologue demo for WORK WORK WORK, a retro pixel art puzzle adventure from Indonesian developer Mojiken, will release on October 8 for PC via Steam. The demo covers the story's prologue, with a virtual assistant, clue collecting, and tasks at a company called Triquetra. The game is a commercial redevelopment of a Mojiken experimental project.
Game Director Lim Jonggyu and Art Director Kim In presented Astrae Oratio at a Tokyo Game Show 2026 media preview on September 17. The smartphone RPG is set in 1989 Tokyo, with players as a chief clerk of the Special Ward Agency. Lim said the director likes Hanamori Momoka. UN:Me, a soul triage adventure game, is set for release in 2027. Historia Inc. is developing it and Shueisha Games is publishing. An interview tied to Tokyo Game Show 2026 features general producer Taiichi Kawai, Historia director Shun Sasaki, planner and scenario writer Takuya Yamanaka, and Yumiri Hanamori, who plays the protagonist. The protagonist is a girl who holds four souls, and players decide which one remains last.
In the TBS Sunday drama VIVANT, Ohm Thanapat plays Chokki Thepnimit, a Thai businessman who works as a monitor for the organization Tent. The Thai actor and musician said in an interview that he held back in his first scenes with Ryusei Ryo, who plays Kotaro Shinjo, until Ryo told him he could hug him and go all out.
Acacia's Magical Girl Norin Village, a magical girl suspense game set for release this year on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, has cast Kana Hanaiwa as Aoba Kira. Kira is a girl locked in the village's underground dungeon for a long time, forgotten by everyone, without developed reason or language and said to be in a mental state like an infant, while carrying strong murderous intent and dangerous magic.
Solo developer knp opened the Steam store page for the roguelite action game Hanafuda no Miko on September 29, with Early Access planned for 2027. Players control a miko through a side-scrolling labyrinth, collecting hanafuda cards for effects, choosing among five Goko no Kata, and facing the Goko no Ayakashi boss, whose second phase is a hanafuda yaku battle in 3D space. A playable demo is scheduled for Tokyo Game Dungeon 14 on October 31.
NHK announced Tuesday that Tomohiro Hata will perform "Fragments," the theme song for the live-action series of Yuki Kodama's Ao no Hana, Utsuwa no Mori. Rena Matsui plays Aoko Baba, a ceramics painter, and Hayate Ichinose plays Tatsuki Manabe. The series debuts on NHK's Yorudora block on October 26. The manga ran in Flowers from March 2018 to March 2022, ending at ten volumes.
The staff for the Mission: Yozakura Family anime released a new promotional video on Friday naming five cast members: Hochu Otsuka as Alexandryu, Miku Ito as Shura, Yumiri Hanamori as Cyber Demon Lord Giga, Sumire Uesaka as Dr. Mozu, and Naomi Shindoh as Hulang. The video also introduced the character Kosmos Akizakura without naming a voice actor. Part 2 premieres October 11 on MBS, TBS, and 26 other channels.
Shueisha Games will release UN:Me, a soul triage adventure for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, in 2027 at an undecided price. The game follows a girl carrying four souls, labeled I through IV, each claiming to be the body's true owner. Players explore her unstable inner world, gather clues, talk with each soul, then erase souls one by one and choose who remains. Historia, the studio behind the Caligula series, handles planning and development. Yumiri Hanamori voices all four souls, a role that led the team to record each soul on separate days rather than switch between them in one session. Producer Taiichi Kawai, planner and scenario writer Takuya Yamanaka, and director Shun Sasaki discussed the project at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The team also pushed the release from an earlier date to 2027 and added motion capture after Hanamori's performance.
GANYMEDE Inc. announced on September 28, 2026 that six creators will debut under UltraLMTM, the VTuber brand produced by streamer k4sen, who belongs to the CREATOR division of the esports team ZETA DIVISION. The six are Riina Koga Fluorite, Amari Mahiru, Yuime Yuina, Hanasake Sei, Washimi Daisho, and Yayoi Chiu. First streams run over two days at 19:00 each day: three members on Monday, October 5 and three on Tuesday, October 6, each on their own YouTube channel. From 20:30 each day, the three who streamed plus k4sen appear on a program on the UltraLMTM official channel. Profiles, visuals, a trailer, and X accounts for all six launched with the announcement. The brand's stated concept is "Beyond imagination, ideals squared."
Dengeki Hobby Web reports that two prize figures, Uzaki Hana and Uzaki Tsuki Sweater Swimsuit ver., are scheduled to release as prizes on DMM Onkure starting Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The brand Eternal Romance, which launched to carry over the reception of an earlier Uzaki Tsuki figure, made these its first release at roughly 28cm, with a sculpted knit portion and an original costume rather than an illustration.
The Detective Precure! LIVE2026 Cureatto Nessho! Hanamaru Showtime☆ stage show is getting a Blu-ray release on February 19, 2027. The main feature carries the complete Mystery Night Performance, with daytime-only songs and MC segments as extras. A first-production-run edition adds an acrylic music box that plays an arrangement of the first-season ending theme Naze! Nazo?! ANSWER. The first part of Oda Nobunaga's lord-perspective main story, "Honpen Oyakata Mesen ~Shirarezaru Koigokoro~," began distribution in Voltage's Tenka Touitsu Koi no Ran Love Ballad ~Hana no Shou~ on Thursday, September 24. The 10-episode arc is split into two parts, with episodes 1 through 5 out now and episodes 6 through 10 scheduled for a later release. A campaign through Monday, September 28 grants a limited avatar to players who finish episode 5.
The television anime of Monsho Sakakibara's Tensei Elf light novels has begun streaming the first two minutes of its first episode and confirmed a January 2027 premiere. Daiki Yamashita voices Liese and Hana Hishikawa voices Minori. Yuki Inaba directs at Studio Palette and handles series scripts. The novel started on Kakuyomu in 2021, and the kanco manga adaptation runs on Novema and Manga Zegra, with a sixth compiled volume shipped on June 26.

The ABEMA Anime Matsuri 2026 event on Saturday announced that Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki's Oishinbo manga is getting a new television anime titled Shin Oishinbo. Shinei Animation announced the series at its 50th anniversary stage presentation. The manga launched in 1983 and has been on hiatus since 2014. A previous Shinei Animation adaptation ran for 136 episodes from 1988 to 1992.
Thai actor Ohm Thanaphat, who plays Chokki Thepanit in TBS's Sunday drama VIVANT, appeared at the opening stage of TBS SPORTS & VIVANT PARK on September 19 at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Plaza. He greeted 300 fans chosen by lottery in Japanese with "I love you!" and said people had asked him for autographs from the moment he landed. Ryusei Ryo, who plays Kotaro Shinjo, also attended, along with the actor playing Drum and judo gold medalist Natsumi Tsunoda, a TBS athlete ambassador for the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya. VIVANT is an original drama about Yusuke Nogi, a member of the Self-Defense Forces' top-secret intelligence organization Betsuhan. After a two-week broadcast break, the second half of season two begins October 4. Ohm said Chokki will have more scenes in the back half but could not discuss the story because of spoilers.
Shueisha's V Jump will release "hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME 2nd Anniversary Blooming Memories" on September 18, 2026, priced at 1,980 yen with tax included. The book collects cards released over the card game's past year. It comes with a newly drawn Yukihana Lamy card by Kentaro Yabuki, the creator of "To Love Ru" and "Ayakashi Triangle."
Takeshobo announced on Thursday that it will release three boys love manga titles digitally in English. Emi Mitsuki's A Man Who Never Says No arrives September 18, with its spinoff A Golden Someday following September 25. Unohana's Enveloped by the Fever of Guilt, a complete two-volume series, is scheduled for October 2026. The publisher lists Renta!, MangaPlaza, Coolmic, BookWalker, and Rakuten Kobo as the platforms.
Shueisha Games has moved UN:Me from 2026 to 2027, saying the adventure game needs more quality work. The studio also named Yumiri Hanamori as the protagonist's voice, and detailed the four souls inside the girl, including the laid-back Soul II and the aggressive Soul IV. A trial version with Hanamori's recorded voice will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Kadokawa released the second main promotional video for the Pan Dorobō anime on Thursday. The video previews the ending theme "Pang Pang Pang" by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Atsumi Tanezaki voices Nazo no France Pan, and Kana Hanazawa joins as narrator. The cast also includes Ayaka Asai, Aki Toyosaki, and Junichi Suwabe. Takahiko Kyōgoku directs at Shinei Animation. The anime premieres on October 2.
Publisher 2P Games announced on September 14 that Hanamiriro's Alice Nation launches October 15 local time, which is October 16 in Japan. The narrative card game is coming to PC via Steam, supports Japanese display and subtitles, and is priced at $7.99 with a 10 percent discount for 14 days from release. A demo is available now.
Kadokawa lists the seventh collected volume of Momose Hanada's manga adaptation of Harunadon's Even a Replica Can Fall in Love as the final one, shipping October 27. Hanada has run the adaptation in Dengeki Maoh since April 2023. The sixth volume shipped May 27. The original novel won the grand prize at the 29th Dengeki Novel Prize in 2022, and its anime adaptation debuted April 7.
CTW Inc. announced on Friday that Shakugan no Shana: Blaze Edge, its browser game based on Yashichiro Takahashi's light novel series, will launch on September 14. The game is free-to-play with in-app purchases and will be available in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean. Rie Kugimiya voices Shana. Noizi Ito illustrates the novels, which ran from 2002 to 2011 and inspired three television anime series.
KADOKAWA will hold a Birthday online fair for Shū ni Ichido Kurasumeito o Kau Hanashi starting September 10, 2026. New merchandise using illustrations drawn by U35 will be sold at Kadostore and other online stores. The lineup includes an A4 Character Fine Graph, acrylic stands, a B2 wall hanging, and an acrylic diorama, plus trading items. The fine graph comes with a bonus SS card by author Usa Hada covering birthday episodes for Shiori Miyagi and Hazuki Sendai.
The Elusive Samurai season 2 has added Niina Hanamiya to its cast as Mima. The season began airing July 17 on Fuji TV's Noitamina block and on AT-X, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it airs. Yuta Yamazaki returns to direct at CloverWorks, and Yasushi Nishiya returns as character designer and chief animation director. Kento Nakajima performs the opening theme, and Bocchiboromaru performs the ending with three guest vocalists from Hinatazaka46.
Kaiyodo will open reservations on September 8, 2026 for the Hatsune Miku Goldfish Ver. 1/7 scale figure, based on an original illustration co-created by ATDan and Hanasa. The figure depicts Miku in a vivid red Chinese-style kimono with goldfish swimming through the air around her. It stands about 360mm tall including the base, is priced at 44,000 yen, and is scheduled for release in June 2027.
JISOO of the seven-member group HANA will debut as a solo artist under the name LEE JISOO. Her debut single MISMATCH arrives digitally on September 8, her birthday, and includes the track Movie Star, produced by Chanmina, who also produces HANA. JISOO wrote and composed MISMATCH herself. She is the first HANA member to launch a solo career. The songs are written in Korean and English.
Toshiko Machida's Hanako-gari manga ended with its final chapter on Kodansha's Pocket Magazine platform on August 27. The series launched in September 2025 and ran for three compiled volumes. Kodansha shipped the second volume on March 9 and will release the third and final volume on September 9. The story follows a Tokyo government organization that claims to protect spirits called Hanako but actually hunts and disposes of them.
A new series of the TV anime Fate/strange Fake has been announced at the Fate/strange Fake Panel Stage during Anime NYC in New York on August 22, 2026 JST. A PV and teaser visual were released, featuring Ayaka, Saber, and Sigma. Comments came from creator Ryohgo Narita, character designer Shizuki Morii, and cast members Kana Hanazawa, Yuki Ono, and Gakuto Kajiwara.
The film 'A Few Moments of Cheers' will rebroadcast on NHK E-Tele on September 5 from 15:50 to 16:59. It is the first terrestrial rebroadcast about six months after its initial airing on March 21. The film is the first theatrical animation from video production team Hurray!, made with Blender and a script by Jukki Hanada.
The October issue of Ichijinsha's Comic Zero Sum magazine announced that honomi's manga adaptation of Hana Yakou's Blaze of Flesh and Blood light novel series will end in the November issue, shipping on September 28. Kodansha USA will publish the manga in English starting January 2027.
NHK announced that Hayate Ichinose will play male lead Tatsuki Manabe in the live-action series of Yuki Kodama's Ao no Hana Utsuwa no Mori manga. Rena Matsui also stars. The series premieres on NHK's Yorudora block this fall. The manga ran in Shogakukan's Flowers from March 2018 to March 2022.
Hanashi Media announced it has licensed eight light novels for English release, announced in July and August. The slate includes The Hated Prince's Do-Over, Living the Slow Life as a Demon Lord, Shimotsuki-san Has a Thing for a Background Character, and The Sage of the Forbidden Library. The publisher will release the titles in English and Spanish.

The Pokemon official YouTube channel released the new POKETOON short Kameil to, Natsu no Tsuzuki on August 12. The story follows a boy named Rikuto who visits his grandmother on an island and meets a long-lived Kameil whose tail color differs and whose shell has moss. The animation was produced by Studio Colorido and Studio Churutto, with Seigo Yamashita directing.
FUFUTIETIE JAPAN announced a collaboration between its Myo-o series art figures and the manga Hana no Keiji. The special collection launches August 7, Hana Kei Day, with reservations opening the same day. Fighter and entertainer Nobuo Kakuta has been named official ambassador for the Myo-o series.
