Kotobukiya is re-releasing its 1/8 scale figure of Shizuna Rem Misurugi from Nihon Falcom's Trails series, scheduled for April 2027 at 24,200 yen including tax. The painted PVC, ABS, acrylic and metal rod figure stands about 225mm with base, sculpted by Tetsuya Tsukada of namoji, and depicts Shizuna in her reinforced suit with the odachi Akegarasu. Reservations opened through the Kotobukiya Shop, which adds an alternate expression part.

The Ultra Heroes EXPO 2027 New Year Festival runs from December 25, 2026 to January 3, 2027 at Tokyo Dome City Prism Hall, with four live performances most days and three on December 28 and 30. The NEW GENERATION THE LIVE stages feature Ultraman Teo lead Mitsuishi Ibuki (Iwasaki Aoi) daily, plus rotating appearances by Kamiya Amane, Nakada Noa, Uemura Yu, and Morimoto Ryoma, and a January 3 talk show.

Edia announced on Wednesday that it will re-release the PC-98 versions of Nihon Falcom's Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes and Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II. No release date or platforms were announced. The PC-98 releases add voice acting to specific scenes. The two games first released on PC-88 in 1989 and 1992, and the first game inspired a two-episode OVA in 1992.

One or Eight announced on September 17 that its tower defense game Pixel Hero Scramble Plus will release for Nintendo Switch and Steam on December 1, 2026. The publisher also released a first trailer and opened wishlist registration on the Steam store page, while the Nintendo Switch store page is already live. The game is a fixed-route tower defense title where players place units at designated spots to stop waves of enemies and reclaim invaded territory. More than 60 units appear, split between melee units that halt the enemy advance and ranged units that support from the rear. Some units stall enemies, some spread status ailments, and others focus on support. Stages move from urban areas to grasslands and deserts, with bosses appearing on certain stages. Players can call on limited-use EX Skills, including meteor attacks, attack and movement speed reduction, reinforcement summons, and barrier defense. Single-use support items are also available. A Steam demo is planned, with timing and content to be announced once decided.

Nihon Falcom will release The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 2nd on September 17, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Nihon Falcom announced on September 16, 2026 that it has signed a licensing agreement with South Korea's NEOWIZ covering development of The Legend of Heroes III: White Witch for PC and consoles and a release in the global market. The game is the third entry in The Legend of Heroes series, an RPG Falcom released in 1994 for the PC-9801. It is the opening part of the three-part Gagharv Trilogy, alongside The Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermillion and The Legend of Heroes V: A Cagesong of the Ocean, and it is regarded as the origin of the later Trails series that continues from The Legend of Heroes VI: Trails in the Sky. The sources describe the 1994 release as a singing RPG built on detailed worldbuilding and storytelling, following the pilgrimage of the boy Julio and the girl Chris across a world called Tirasweel. No release window, platform list, or budget was disclosed.

Relic Entertainment has pushed Company of Heroes - Definitive Edition from fall 2026 to early 2027, saying several more months of development are needed. The remaster of the 2006 WWII real-time strategy game is co-developed with Blackbird Interactive and marks the series' 20th anniversary. It adds reworked textures, lighting, and water, quality-of-life changes, a Merciless AI difficulty, ultrawide support, and the Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor content.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 2nd, a full 3D remake of the 2006 PC game Trails in the Sky SC, launches September 17, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. In an interview with ASCII.jp, Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo said the remake was not planned when the 1st entered development. The team's high motivation and the 1st's reception set a one-year release target. He also explained why FC and SC were not merged into one game.

To mark the release of 'Trails in the Sky the 1st', the full remake of 'The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC', Fulton Japan is selling a pocket watch modeled on the game's Tactical Orbment. Pre-orders open September 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM on the Fulton Japan official online store. The lineup has three models, each tied to a main character: Estelle, Joshua, and Scherazard. Every model embeds that character's distinct quartz layout and orbment circuit into the watch face. The circuit glows in the dark after absorbing light, evoking the moment orbment energy flows through the device. The hunter case carries the Bracer Guild emblem as a three-dimensional metal engraving, finished with an antique brown tone and aging treatment meant to recall a bracer's worn gear. Each model is limited to 2,025 units, with edition numbers 1 to 2025 engraved on the case back; numbers are assigned randomly and cannot be chosen. The package includes a special watch case and an original guarantee card featuring each character's illustration. The watch uses a MIYOTA 2035 quartz movement, measures roughly 60mm by 46mm by 14mm, weighs about 60g, and costs 16,500 yen including tax. Release is scheduled for mid-February 2027.

Ubisoft announced "Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake" during the gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 digital event, broadcast on August 26, 2026. The remake updates the 1999 turn-based strategy classic "Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia" with 3D graphics supporting 4K resolution. Players control one of nine factions, each with distinct playstyles, competing for control of Erathia. The package includes the main game and two expansion packs, and each original campaign is presented as a single story. New prologues, epilogues, and cinematic cutscenes have been added to deepen the narrative. The remake supports online multiplayer for up to 8 players and local turn-based play, with community maps playable from release day and custom map creation available. It supports Japanese subtitles. Ubisoft announced 'Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake' at gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, a full 3D rebuild of the 1999 turn-based strategy classic. The remake uses Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, replacing the original's fixed 2D isometric view with a detailed 3D world, freely controllable camera, real-time weather, and changing seasons. Nihon Falcom has published its exhibition details for Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to September 21 at Makuhari Messe. The company's booth will sit inside the Konami Digital Entertainment booth and will center on a display area commemorating the release of Trails in the Sky the 2nd, scheduled for September 17, 2026. The exhibit will show unreleased illustrations and development documents, plus full-scale weapon replicas that visitors can hold for photo opportunities. Official cosplayers Kipi-san and Ojigi-san will appear as Estelle and Joshua. Attendees will receive a non-sale Puni Puni Can Badge set of seven types, with the daily type varying and quantities limited. Outside the venue and near JR Kaihimmakuhari Station, the company will hand out a special booklet and all ten types of an original uchiwa fan during the three public days. A special online live by Falcom jdk BAND will stream on September 19 at 10:30 a.m. and September 20 at 4:00 p.m., featuring popular Trails series songs; no live stage will be held at the venue.

Walt Disney Japan has introduced MARVEL HEROES, a Marvel-designed credit card in the Disney★JCB Card lineup, issued for a limited time from September 15, 2026 to March 31, 2028. Nihon Falcom released the demo for Trails in the Sky the 2nd on August 20, 2026, at 11:00 JST. The demo covers the full opening of the game, from the prologue "A Maiden's Resolve" through the end of Chapter 1, "The Approaching Shadow," including sub-events and quests. Players can carry their save data from the demo into the full game, continuing from Chapter 2 onward. The demo is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. To mark the demo's release, Falcom also published the opening movie on the official website. The movie is based on the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC and presents each scene as a full 3D remake, including battles against giant bosses that the original could not express. The full game is scheduled for release on September 17, 2026, for the same platforms. The demo also includes the battle system that switches between quick and command battles, the new Brave Rush element, and the fishing minigame. Players who have clear data from Trails in the Sky the 1st can load it at the start of the demo to obtain the linked bonus "Classic Style SC." The demo does not support the Movie Viewing or Viewer Mode functions.

Actress Hayden Panettiere has died in South Carolina, USA, at age 36. Her representative confirmed the news to Deadline, and her father, Kip Panettiere, released a statement expressing deep sorrow. The cause of death has not been disclosed. She was known for playing the immortal cheerleader Claire Bennet in the drama HEROES.

Anique Inc. announced on August 10 that it will hold an experiential virtual exhibition titled "Footsteps of Heroes" in VRChat, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the anime "My Hero Academia." Kotobukiya announced a wide range of new figure prototypes and color samples at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 2. The company revealed supervising prototypes for "Super Kaguya-hime!" figures of Kaguya, Tsukimi Yachiyo, and Sayori Sakayori, as well as a prototype for "Magic Knight Rayearth" Hikaru Shidou. Under the OSHI WORKS line, prototypes were shown for "Attack on Titan The Final Season" characters Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and Sasha. The new OSHI WORKS Mini brand debuted with color samples of "The Apothecary Diaries" Maomao and "TRIGUN STARGAZE" Vash the Stampede and Nicholas D. Wolfwood. For game-related figures, Kotobukiya showed the first color sample of a 1/4 scale "Goddess of Victory: NIKKE" Anis figure. OSHI WORKS Mini color samples were also displayed for "Persona 3 Reload" and "Persona 5 The Royal" protagonists, plus prototypes for "Trails" series characters Estelle Bright and Joshua Bright, and SNK characters Mai Shiranui, Angel, and Kula Diamond. Relic Entertainment, in co-development with Blackbird Interactive, announced Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition during the PC Gaming Show 2026 stream on June 8, 2026. The package combines the original 2006 World War II real-time strategy game with its two expansions, Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor, into a single release. The Definitive Edition features visual upgrades including improved textures and lighting, HUD optimization for ultra-wide screens, and gameplay enhancements such as vehicle reverse operations, automatic unit reinforcement, and customizable hotkeys. A new highest difficulty level called Ruthless A.I. has been added. The game supports full 64-bit architecture for better stability on modern systems and is designed to be compatible with the large library of community-made mods from the past two decades. It includes three full campaigns, multiplayer and co-op for up to eight players, four factions, and over 50 maps. The release date has not been set, but the Steam store page is live and Japanese UI and subtitles are planned.

Publisher Hooded Horse announced on May 29 that the turn-based strategy RPG Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has sold 1 million units. The game entered early access on April 30 and sold 250,000 units in its first 24 hours. A roadmap for early access was also released alongside the sales milestone.
