BRANC's Dialogue for BRANC Vol. 15 will run from 19:00 on Monday, November 9, on whether Japanese films and anime can still aim at the Chinese market. Guests are Yuki Matsumoto, who spent four years as sales manager at China distributor Road Pictures, and film journalist Xu Haochen, a Shanghai International Film Festival programmer. There is no online livestream and no archive stream.
A report on the Japanese outlet ASCII.jp describes DMA cheats spreading in China's PC games. The setup uses three pieces of hardware: a DMA card that reads PC memory, a KMBOX that emulates keyboard and mouse input, and a Fuser that overlays analyzed information on the game screen. Analysis runs on a second PC, which makes the cheat hard for programs on the gaming PC to detect. Devices are sold on e-commerce sites such as Taobao.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is out, and the racing is closer to Burnout than to a sim. Developer Fuse Games was founded by former Criterion Games staff who worked on the Burnout series, which shows in the slow-motion takedown when you wreck a rival. The campaign uses a roguelite structure: a three-act tour across planets including Jakku, Rantau Ana, Ando Prime, and Darven Acos, with a branching map and routes that change each tour.
Digital Vortex Entertainment will begin Early Access for DREADMOOR on November 9, with Japanese support. Dream Dock's first-person fishing adventure puts players in the role of Malcolm, who shows signs of mutation, in a world submerged by a past catastrophe and hit by a plague the game calls Seablight. Early Access is expected to last six months to one year, at a lower price than full release.
Aggro Crab announced on October 16 that the co-op climbing game PEAK will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22. Each console version includes all update content released for the PC version, including the August update THE FINAL ASCENT, and supports crossplay across platforms. A PS5 physical edition is also planned with a passport-style item and a disc design featuring the character Binbong. A Japanese release has not been announced.
NHK will air a three-part NHK Special series, Hyper-AI Society, asking what AI brings to humanity. Episode 1, on the intelligence explosion and work, airs November 29; Episode 2, on creativity, December 6; Episode 3, on humanity, January 24, 2027. All run from 9:00 to 9:49 p.m., with simultaneous and catch-up streaming on NHK ONE. Comedian and Akutagawa Prize-winning author Naoki Matayoshi is the MC.
U&I Entertainment Japan released a packaged Nintendo Switch version of the Toy Story: Retro Roundup! + Toy Story 3 Complete Edition Double Pack, developed by Digital Eclipse. Retro Roundup! collects early Toy Story games across 11 home console and handheld versions with rewind and cheat features. Toy Story 3 Complete Edition remasters the 3D adventure based on the 2010 film, adding Toy Box Mode content. The package costs 4,950 yen.
CG-ARTS will hold its Animation Practical Skills Test 2026 for students aiming to become CG animators. Institutional registration begins October 1, 2026, and exam entries run from early November until November 30. Capacity is 500 on a first-come, first-served basis. Anima, OLM Digital, Orange, Sanzigen, and Polygon Pictures score the submitted works, with scores, advice comments, and national rankings returned to examinees.
Pocketpair Publishing announced on October 15 that Clicky Islands, a PC title from developer Karrot Games, launches on Steam on November 16. The game mixes city-building simulation with incremental elements: players govern an island, click to gather resources, then hire residents and assign them to jobs so production runs automatically. A demo covering resource collection and production automation is available on the Steam store page.
Bohemia Interactive released the Badlands expansion for DayZ, adding Nasdara, a 267 square kilometer map of arid farmland, oil industry remnants, and border checkpoints. Survival now includes extreme heat, drought, and sandstorms, making water a resource for cooling as well as hydration. The update adds region-specific weapons and gear, mouflon, monitor lizards, and two dog types, plus motorcycles and a base game update to version 1.30.
A new kernel branch owned by Linus Torvalds, named noref-filemap-read-with-llm, reworks memory management so page cache reads do not reference the folio struct, targeting folio reference count contention when many threads make small reads on one file. Torvalds said the implementation, test programs, review and the first draft of the cover letter were done with Claude Code under his direction, and the measurements ran on his machine.
Arashi's "Love so sweet" has passed 300 million cumulative streams, reaching 301,000,367 in the Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking dated October 19, 2026. The song logged 1,379,153 weekly streams in that tally. It is the first Arashi song to clear 300 million in the ranking. The track was the theme for the drama "Boys Over Flowers 2," which starred member Matsumoto Jun.
RetBear will perform "No Reaction" as the opening theme for the TV anime adaptation of In a World Full of Zombies I'm the Only One Who Doesn't Get Attacked. The song is produced by Kairiki Bear, the Vocaloid creator behind "Venom" and "Darling Dance," and features a guest vocalist credited only as unknown Vo: 0in. The announcement was made on October 10, which is also World Zombie Day, alongside the reveal of the anime's key visual and main promotional video. The series is scheduled to begin airing on AT-X in January 2027. The source manga has recorded more than 9.5 million downloads and sold over 750,000 copies, including spin-offs. "No Reaction" is RetBear's first new release in almost four years, following "Down Timer" in January 2023. Digital streaming details for the song have not yet been announced.
Jagex announced the 2027 roadmap for RuneScape: Dragonwilds at RuneFest 2026, held October 3 and 4 in Birmingham with over 6,000 attendees. A free update, Luminance, arrives in December 2026 as a prologue to the 2027 Blood Crystal Saga, which spans Song of Rebellion and Crown of Night. A PC sale runs two weeks from October 16 on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Jagex Launcher.
The Vermilion Mask released creditless versions of its opening and ending videos after the anime premiered on October 10, 2026. The opening uses MAN WITH A MISSION's "Firestarter," and yutori performs the ending theme "Koe." MAN WITH A MISSION described "Firestarter" as a powerful song meant to push the adventure of young people saddled with a cruel fate. yutori said the act of carrying an unerasable past while trying to move forward overlaps with the band's own everyday lives. The anime is a two-part series, with the first cour running in Fall 2026. Tetsuaki Watanabe directs, One Double-O studio handles animation production, Daisuke Ohigashi oversees series composition, Hisashi Higashijima is character designer and chief animation director, and Alisa Okehazama composes the music. Original creators Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba supervise the story. Crunchyroll streams the anime, which adapts the manga by Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba running in Young King OURs from Shonengahosha.
Publisher Retrovibe and developer targim. set the PC release of the FPS Cop Bastard for October 29, 2026, on Steam and GOG.com. Players are a hardline detective in early 1990s Osaka, shooting through yakuza in narrow corridors. The game has no ADS, no puzzles, and no character builds. Spitting on enemies restores HP. A demo is already available on Steam, and the game supports Japanese.
Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu rose from #4 to #1 in its 12th weekend, selling 375,000 tickets and earning 562,647,900 yen from Friday to Sunday. The live-action Resident Evil reboot opened at #2 with 356,000 tickets and 626,567,150 yen in three days. The fifth Girls und Panzer das Finale film opened at #5 with 267,301,400 yen.
Asus has added a sixth model to the ROG Ally series, the ROG Xbox Ally X20, which the review notes is a 20th anniversary ROG model. It carries the same Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme as the ROG Xbox Ally X and moves to a 7.4-inch 1080p OLED panel at 120Hz with HDR and VRR. The handheld starts at 25万8800円, with a 44万2800円 bundle that adds AR glasses.
Digital Extremes will launch Operation: The Road to Tau on October 16, an event that moves Warframe beyond the Earth, Mars, and Moon settings players have traveled until now. The development team calls it the biggest step in the game's history and frames it as a once-in-a-lifetime operation. Rebecca Ford, the voice of Lotus and Warframe's creative director, discussed the event.
Capcom released download editions of Resident Evil RE:2 Z Version Deluxe Edition, RE:3 Z Version, and RE:4 Gold Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16. Each is 1,000 yen off until November 7: 2,990 yen for RE:2, 1,990 yen for RE:3, and 3,990 yen for RE:4, tax included. Packaged versions follow on January 29, 2027.
Digital Extremes will run "The Great Operation: Road to Tau" in Warframe from October 16. Players collect Moonfresh to move the Sentient mothership Praghasa. Community Director Megan Everett told AUTOMATON the event is one-time-only by creative decision, with daily story updates and rewards such as Syandanas and armor sets. Tau is planned for implementation at the end of the year.
The anime dreamland begins streaming October 18 on U-NEXT, DMM TV, and Hulu, according to Anime Anime. d-Anime Store, Lemino, FOD, ABEMA Premium, and TELASA are listed for staggered releases with start dates not yet announced. The series, adapted from a manga by French artist Reno Lemaire, follows a boy named Terence who travels a dream world after his mother dies in a fire. It airs on ABC TV and TV Asahi's ANiMAZiNG!!! block from October 17.
U-NEXT and d Anime Store are streaming Shinja Zero no Megami-sama to Hajimeru Isekai Kouryaku on demand from October 11, matching the BS Asahi broadcast at 23:30 every Sunday. DMM TV, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Lemino, ABEMA and TELASA start on October 17. FOD lists a rental. Netflix, Disney+ and TSUTAYA DISCAS are not listed.
The Apothecary Diaries season 3 led the new arrivals in the Japanese animation TV ratings for September 28 to October 4, taking 4.8 percent in its NTV debut. Sazae-san topped the week at 7.9 percent, ahead of Detective Conan at 5.6 and Chibi Maruko-chan at 5.3. Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc opened at 2.7 percent, and Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3 closed at 3.4 percent.
Kenshi Yonezu will tour 14 shows in 11 cities from December 26, 2026 to February 28, 2027 under the banner KENSHI YONEZU 2026-2027 WORLD TOUR / GHOST. The run covers Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, Oakland, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Newark, Toronto, London, Paris, and Amsterdam, with expected attendance around 200,000. Singapore, Oakland, Mexico City, Toronto, and Amsterdam are performance locations for Yonezu for the first time.
A browser game called Discretionary Review casts the player as a San Francisco housing developer. Starting in January 2015 on the default Developer setting, the player files a 55-unit proposal at 2918 Mission St., faces resident opposition, a protected-tree review, and a mid-2016 affordable housing rule, and fails the first investor goal by January 2017 with 34 units left standing.
A second production run of the "EVANGELION MA-1 REMODEL by AVIREX" flight jacket is confirmed, with orders opening at 11:00 on Friday, October 16, 2026. The jacket is a collaboration between the Evangelion project RADIO EVA and the military apparel brand AVIREX. It sold out immediately after an advance sale through RADIO EVA and a same-day sale at AVIREX directly managed stores and the official online store. The model comes in three colorways: black themed after Evangelion Unit-01, red after Unit-02, and navy after Mark.06. It is based on the MA-1 REMODEL MARK II, a jacket AVIREX produced in 2009. Each jacket costs 77,000 yen including tax. Orders will be taken on RADIO EVA ONLINE and the AVIREX official online store, with shipping scheduled for early February 2027.
Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Gundam Blitz Order, described as an RPG-style idle simulation game, on Thursday. The company is accepting applications for a network test running November 18-24. An English website and X/Twitter account are open. Players collect and strengthen mobile suit units, warships, and Mobile Armors from across the Gundam franchise, build formations around each unit's battle style, and boost combat power.
REJECT Inc. is selling Orisaki Moshu 4th Anniversary Goods through its official online store on a made-to-order basis. The lineup includes a complete set at 16,000 yen with a handwritten autograph postcard, a sweatshirt in black or white at 12,000 yen, an acrylic stand at 2,000 yen, image tarot cards at 1,000 yen, and a Devil's Contract Voice at 1,000 yen. BEYBLADE X is available for unlimited streaming on DMM TV, U-NEXT, Amazon Prime Video, d Anime Store, Netflix, and Disney Plus, according to a survey of major Japanese services. The anime, planned and originated by Takara Tomy and Shogakukan, began airing on TV Tokyo in October 2023. Its new Bay Kingdom arc started streaming on October 9, 2026. Hulu, FOD, TELASA, and TSUTAYA DISCAS do not carry it.
Fujimi Model will release 1/700 scale battleship kits of Yamato and Musashi in its Ship NEXT Series, each priced at 5,280 yen including tax. Both are full-hull kits reproduced down to the hull bottom, but the parts are divided at the waterline so each can also be built as a waterline model. Each kit includes a wooden deck sticker and pre-cut detail stickers.
On October 15, the first-person puzzle game THANKS, LIGHT. launched for PS5 and PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Shining a flashlight on flat floor shadows turns them into three-dimensional objects, and removing light collapses them back. Lightersgames developed the title, Game Source Entertainment handles sales, and Steam lists it at 2,600 yen with a 10% launch sale through October 22.
Remedy Entertainment released the physical edition of CONTROL Resonant for PS5 and Xbox Series X on October 15, 2026. The digital version launched September 24 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game is a sequel to 2019's CONTROL, with Dylan Faden, brother of Jesse Faden, as protagonist, set in Manhattan seven years later. The SteelBook Edition adds a case, three fine art prints, and a key art poster.
CyberAgent will open pre-orders for the NIJISANJI EN AUTUMN STYLE COLLECTION on the Cyber Goods Store on October 16, 2026 at 13:00. Dean Hall, creator of DayZ, has released the BRUTAL game development framework and its source code through his studio RocketWerkz. BRUTAL is used in RocketWerkz's Kitten Space Agency and was provided as the foundation for Waylith, the engine built for Ludeon Studios' RimWorld. It is open source under the MIT License and free for commercial works, with conditions: credit, copyright and logo on the startup screen, and the NOTICE file.
A blind box series of Racing Miku figures illustrated by Eku Uekura is now accepting preorders at Rakuten Books. BE:FIRST and actor Honda Katsuya performed "Muchu" together on Fuji TV's "2025 FNS Music Festival Night 2," broadcast December 10, 2025. The performance video is now on BE:FIRST's official YouTube channel, available until November 15 at 20:59. "Muchu" is the theme song for the 2025 drama "Nami Uraraka ni, Meoto Biyori" and is used as an insert song for its sequel.
Konami Arcade Games disclosed in the Konami Group integrated report published on October 15 that it is considering a reboot of the jubeat series, part of a reboot strategy to revisit past hit music games. Yoshitaka Nishimura, head of the arcade game business, said the aim is to involve people who have never played music games and energize amusement facilities.
Nexon will hold invitation-only special screenings of DEAR MY HERO, the first theatrical anime for MapleStory, at 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku in Tokyo on November 7 and Osaka Station City Cinema on November 8, 2026. Applications open October 21. The film is the first Japanese showing and will be presented in a new Japanese dub. Attendees receive a cinema ticket with case and an art card.
Crunchyroll is now streaming an English dub for the Saga of Tanya the Evil the Movie anime, with the video listed as added on Tuesday. The film opened in Japan in February 2019 and was screened in more than 500 US theaters that May. Crunchyroll began streaming the film itself in September 2019. The service added an English dub for the Operation Desert Pasta short last month.
The television anime of Ryon's Are You a Landmine, Chihara-san? manga will debut on January 7 in the Super Animeism Turbo block on MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliated channels, airing Thursdays at 00:26. Sayumi Suzushiro, Kazuki Ura, Maaya Uchida, Tomokazu Sugita, and Daisuke Ono star. Yasuaki Fujii directs at Synergy SP, with Keiichiro Ochi on scripts and Arisa Okehazama composing music at King Records.
Voice actors Kōji Yusa and Miyari Nemoto announced on Thursday, October 15, 2026 that they have married. Each released a separate written statement on X. Nemoto said she has registered the marriage and, while describing herself as still having much to improve, committed to supporting Yusa and asked fans and colleagues for continued support. Yusa said the two had registered the marriage and would support each other while dedicating themselves fully to their acting work. Yusa created a dedicated X account for the announcement and wrote in its profile that he would deactivate it after one week. By the time of reporting, the combined posts had drawn over 200,000 likes and more than 780 comments, mostly congratulations from fans and fellow voice actors. Yusa's roles include Lau in Black Butler and Renzō Shima in Blue Exorcist. Nemoto's roles include Ruri Tanigawa in Ruri Rocks and Char Kyōnagi in Kagurabachi.

A final event as an agency is set for January 31, 2027, and the official BOOTH shop ends sales handling on March 31, 2027. Members Asuwa Yura, Natori Hinata, and Murasaki Shigure continue as individuals.
A new-costume Homura Akemi figure from Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising is joining the BUZZmod. action figure line. Preorders are open at Aniplex Online and other retailers. The 1/12 scale figure stands about 135mm, includes five expression parts, hand parts, a crossed-leg part, and a stand, and is scheduled for release in July 2027 at 12,000 yen.
FREEing is taking pre-orders at AmiAmi for an Overlord figure of Albedo in an apron. The 1/4 scale painted figure stands about 330mm tall and includes cloth net tights and a cloth apron, which the product listing says allows for different display arrangements. Sculpting and publishing are credited to FREEing. The reference price and the AmiAmi price are both 39,600 yen with tax, and release is scheduled for May 2027.
KRAFTON implemented the 43.2 update for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, adding a Bentley collaboration with three vehicle skins based on the Flying Spur Mulliner and Continental GTC Mulliner, each with dedicated driving, engine start, and horn sounds. The update also adds the four-player co-op PvE mode "SLB: Dawnbreakers of Rondo," developed with People Can Fly, plus UGC contest winning works in PUBG: Playgrounds. The PC version went live on October 14, 2026; the console version is scheduled for October 22, 2026.
The Bless television anime's official website announced in a character promotional video on Thursday that Koki Uchiyama voices Akiharu Nakano. The series debuts in January 2027 on Fuji TV's Noitamina block, with Tomohiro Ono, Chiyuki Miura, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yoshino Aoyama, Momoka Terasawa, Kentaro Kumagai, Yoshiki Nakajima and others in the cast, directed by Shotaro Kitamura at A-1 Pictures.
Kei Urana said Thursday on X that Gachiakuta will resume on November 11. Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine had said on September 8 that it would announce a return date once one was set. The magazine's last new chapter ran in the combined 36th and 37th issue that shipped on August 5, and its site has since listed the series as on hiatus for Urana's research.
