Macross Frontier's model-kit line remains active in 2026, with new Bandai Spirits and Hasegawa Valkyrie releases. Beyond kits, the series' design identity surfaced in a Crunchyroll illustration of figure skater Alysa Liu by character designer Risa Ebata.
Macross Frontier coverage in 2026 is mostly model kits, and the two kit stories describe different approaches to the same VF-25 airframe. Bandai Spirits released the HG 1/100 VF-25G Messiah Valkyrie (Mikhail Blanc's Unit) from Macross F at 5,280 yen. The kit changes between Battroid, Gerwalk, and Fighter forms using partial replacement parts rather than a full transformation mechanism, and it ships with a sniper rifle, a deployable barrel, anchor parts, a lead wire, canopy and landing gear parts, and six figure types. Dedicated water-transfer decals sell for 770 yen, and a deluxe set adds an acrylic stand.
Hasegawa's 1/72 scale VF-25F Tornado Messiah (Atmospheric Specification) kit from Macross F: The False Songstress is priced at 5,720 yen and scheduled for release on August 5, 2026. Completed sample photos show newly molded Tornado Pack parts, a seated pilot figure, and decals for Alto Saotome's unit 007. The Tornado Pack parts and bent-leg intake sections distinguish this kit from a simple recolor of the earlier VF-25F.
The two kits differ in scale, format, and cost: Bandai Spirits works at 1/100 with swap parts, Hasegawa at 1/72 with new molds for the Tornado configuration. The only non-kit story connects the series to a mainstream sports figure. Crunchyroll released an illustration of Olympic gold medal figure skater Alysa Liu by Macross Frontier character designer Risa Ebata. Liu, a known anime fan who carried a Pochita plush from Chainsaw Man during the 2026 Winter Olympics, won individual and team gold at those Games.
