Bandai Namco Filmworks announced a new television anime, Mobile Suit Gundam RG Alex Zero, at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23, 2026. The series is directed by Kenji Kamiyama and produced by SOLA ANIMATION. It is the first entry in the RG Project, a multimedia initiative that also includes the action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT. The anime is set in a new timeline separate from the Universal Century, beginning in A.A. (After Apocalypse) 45, 45 years after humanity abandoned Earth following an attack by a self-replicating alien ecosystem called the Apocalypse. The protagonist, Ray Azumi, voiced by Takeo Otsuka, pilots the Gundam ZERO. The anime takes place roughly 100 years before the events of the game. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
On July 24, Bandai Spirits announced a wide range of merchandise for the protagonist mobile suit Gundam Zero, including the HG 1/144 Gundam Zero plastic model kit, the GUNDAM UNIVERSE XARX-0 Gundam Zero action figure, and the METAL ROBOT Soul Gundam Zero. Additional toy brands announced include Gundam Miximize, Gundam Cross, and a 13 cm scale action figure. The series shares a world with the game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, which also received Gunpla announcements. Physical models of both Gundam Zero and Gundam Helix were displayed at San Diego Comic-Con from July 23 to 26.
Alongside the new series announcement, the franchise continued its pattern of merchandise releases tied to existing properties. Premium Bandai opened pre-orders for merchandise commemorating the Worldwide Gundam General Election 2025, including T-shirts, tapestries, and acrylic stands featuring seven mobile suits. Bandai also announced a reprint of the MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE 16 gashapon set, a lottery sale for the HG Gouf Ignited (Heine Custom), and a second lottery for the G.F.F.M.C. Zaku Desert Type figure. A crossover manga between Code Geass and Gundam Wing, titled Minuet Zero, began serialization on Kadokawa's KadoComi platform. The manga commemorates the 30th anniversary of Gundam Wing and the 20th of Code Geass.

Magmix published a retrospective on the most gut-wrenching scenes from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and its sequel Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, both of which aired on TV in 2002 and 2004 respectively. The article highlights three moments that remain difficult to watch today. In SEED episode 37 (episode 35 in the HD Remaster), ZAFT soldiers machine-gun surrendering Earth Alliance troops, saying they do not need Natural prisoners. In episode 45 (episode 43 in the HD Remaster), the series depicts parents rejecting a newborn because its eye color differs from what they requested, a scene that illustrates the dark side of genetic modification. In Destiny, the enhanced human Stella Loussier, who bonds with protagonist Shinn Asuka, is returned to the Alliance on the condition she never fight again, but that promise is broken. Her memories are erased, she is placed in the Destroy Gundam, and she dies when Kira Yamato's Freedom Gundam intervenes. The piece calls these unrewarding episodes among the most unforgettable in the SEED series.

Internal parts use Structural Coating, a process that creates iridescent colors visible through gaps in the dark armor, similar to the surface of soap bubbles or CDs. The effect varies by viewing angle, and no two kits will have the same finish due to the processing. The wings have a five-layer structure with individual articulation, and when deployed, they expose internal structural coating plating and clear parts with reflection-cut processing. The kit includes a shield, twin buster rifle, and beam saber, and can transform into Neo Bird mode via part replacement. Pre-orders open on Premium Bandai on July 24, 2026, at 12:00 JST. Bandai Namco Filmworks announced the production of a new Gundam series, "Mobile Suit Gundam RG Alex Zero," on July 24, 2026. The anime shares its world setting with the action game "GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT," forming the "RG Project" media mix initiative. The anime is set approximately 100 years before the game's story, depicting the origin of a shared history. The setting involves humanity's expansion across the solar system using the "Three Gospels"-gravity control, superluminal communication, and materialization technology-brought by an interstellar object. The object went rogue within 10 years, spawning aggressive self-replicating silicon lifeforms called "Apocalypse." The protagonist, Azumi Rei, voiced by Takeo Otsuka, pilots the new-generation mobile suit "Gundam ZERO" against the Apocalypse. Director and series composition is handled by Kenji Kamiyama, with SF setting supervision by novelist Tow Ubukata, and animation production by SOLA ANIMATION. The anime is planned for a 2027 release. The game "GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT" is also scheduled for 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
