New Blood Interactive CEO on Why Exhibiting at BitSummit Is a Dream for Western Devs
New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry said exhibiting at Japanese events like BitSummit is a dream for Western game industry people, in an interview published by Game Spark on May 28, 2026. The publisher, known for retro-style FPS titles such as ULTRAKILL, DUSK, and Amid Evil, brought Tenebris Somnia and the dungeon crawler Dungeons of DUSK to BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto. Oshry noted that many Western developers grew up on Japanese games and want their own games accepted in Japan. The company's booth featured a blood-soaked bed display recreating a scene from Tenebris Somnia, built by Ukiyo Studios staff. Regarding localization, Oshry said DUSK already has Japanese support, and ULTRAKILL will get a Japanese localization when version 1.0 launches. He acknowledged that data on demand for retro FPS in Japan is limited, but said the company values direct fan feedback. Tenebris Somnia is planned for release within the year.
