NTE

NTE: Neverness to Everness is an open-world RPG from Perfect World Games, with new playable characters and ambitious ability systems confirmed through preview coverage.

Synthesized from 30 Yomimono stories · updated 6d ago

Perfect World Games' open-world RPG NTE: Neverness to Everness has been covered in two Yomimono stories, both from late June 2026. The first story, published June 28, introduced Chaos as a new playable character. Chaos is an attacker who wields a transforming greatsword and scythe, can set up warp points for exploration, and has a dual personality: cheerful and handsome when unmasked, but dangerously obsessed with justice when facing criminals.

The second story, published June 30, focused on the game's technical ambition. Unreal Engine expert Masahiko Nakamura told Automaton that NTE's character abilities-gravity control, time stop, and copy-are so complex they would be the core of an entire game in other titles. Nakamura praised Perfect World Games' willingness to ship these systems despite high debugging costs.

Together, the two stories establish NTE as a game whose character design and technical execution are both being highlighted in coverage. No release date, platform list, or additional characters beyond Chaos have been mentioned in Yomimono's reporting.

Sony to End Physical Disc Production for PlayStation Games in January 2028

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on July 1 that it will stop producing physical game discs for all new PlayStation releases starting in January 2028. The company said the decision is driven by consumer preference for digital media, which now significantly outpaces physical disc sales. Games released before January 2028 will continue to be available in disc format. New titles after that date will be sold only as digital downloads through the PlayStation Store and retailers that sell digital codes. Sony reported that digital sales accounted for 78% of full game software purchases on PS5 in fiscal year 2025. The announcement does not affect existing disc-compatible hardware; current consoles will still play previously released physical games. The move follows years of steady growth in digital sales across the industry and Sony's increasing emphasis on digital distribution through services like PlayStation Plus and Digital Edition console variants. Critics have raised concerns about long-term game preservation when titles are only available digitally, as delisting or service shutdowns can make them inaccessible.

NTE Player Identifies Mint's House From Brief PV Shot, Finds It Open for Entry

A player of the urban open-world RPG "Neverness to Everness" (NTE) has identified a character's apartment from a brief shot in the official trailer for the upcoming version 1.2 update, then located and entered the same room in the live game. The trailer, released June 28, shows four characters-the protagonist, Mint, Shinku, and Irohi-gathered in a room playing a board game. The camera lingers on the scene for about 20 seconds of the 7-minute-41-second video, with the view outside the window as the main clue. Japanese X user Necko used the visible landmark Appare Tower to triangulate the building's position, finding the apartment in the northeastern New Holland district south of Rue Soleil. The room's balcony window was open, allowing entry. Necko's post received over 4,000 likes and 600 reposts. The developer Perfect World Games has not confirmed whose room it is; the apartment differs from Mint's home shown in her earlier character trailer. The version 1.2 update, titled "Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Nights," is scheduled for July 8 and adds a permanent board-game mode set in a fantasy world.

The split follows a broader organizational reset at Xbox announced in June 2026, which has led to layoffs and project cancellations across the division. IO Interactive stated that Project Fantasy is an IP it owns and remains fully committed to, saying in a post on X that the game will definitely see release. The studio also confirmed that the development team has been reorganized and that personnel adjustments have occurred as a result of the partnership ending. Project Fantasy was first announced in 2023 as a new online fantasy RPG designed for long-term expansion, with few details revealed since.
