At the "NARUTO: What's Next?" panel at New York Comic Con on October 10, Masashi Kishimoto was announced as the writer and artist of a new manga in the Naruto franchise. A teaser video showed a possible title, read by sources as Shadow Rising Naruto or Naruto: Shadow Rising, and Anime Corner reports it as NARUTO: SHADOW RISING with Kishimoto set to draw the project. The panel grouped the manga with three other confirmed initiatives out of eight planned for 2027 through 2029 under the banner PROJECT RASENGAN: a four-episode Naruto and Ninku crossover anime, a NARUTO Card Game releasing in June 2027, and a new mobile game. Aniplex of America and Fathom Entertainment will screen Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising in North American theaters from January 16 to 19, 2027, the companies announced at New York Comic Con. Showings will be offered in Japanese audio with English subtitles and in an English dub. Tickets go on sale December 11 at online sellers and participating theater box offices. The film is the official sequel to Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion. Yukihiro Miyamoto directed it, and the returning staff includes chief director Akiyuki Simbo, scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus, original character designer Ume Aoki, animation character designer Junichiro Taniguchi and composer Yuki Kajiura. The animation studio is SHAFT. Yuki Kajiura's solo project FictionJunction performs the theme song Kanata. In Japan the film opened on August 28, 2026 with IMAX screenings the same day, ranked first in its opening weekend and sold 535,000 tickets for 939,647,100 yen in its first three days.
The official X account for Yoichi Takahashi's Captain Tsubasa franchise said Monday that Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun Finals will resume serialization on October 6, with new chapters running on Tuesdays. The manga went on hiatus after its 100th chapter in May. It launched on the Captain Tsubasa World website in July 2024 as storyboards. Takahashi announced his retirement from serializing the franchise in 2024.

The staff of Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising announced on Saturday that Maaya Sakamoto voices Walu, an unnamed upperclassman who has Homura Akemi's face and no known identity. The reveal came with a new trailer and a third key visual drawn by original character designer Ume Aoki on Aniplex's Aniplex One Focus 2026 stream, showing Madoka, Homura, and Walu together. Walu was once guided by the Law of Cycles and returned to the present world through Namazuka Sokone. Yukihiro Miyamoto directs the film, with Akiyuki Simbo as chief director and Gen Urobuchi on script. Cygames will release Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising update Ver 2.60 on September 17, 2026, alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. The update adds Id from Granblue Fantasy Relink as a playable character across all platforms. Id is a standard-type swordsman built around his greatsword Ragnarok, with a projectile, an invincible strike, and a rush Skybound Art. His defining system is the Alternative Gauge, which fills over time or through the special move Soul Link and drains while he is in the dragon state entered through the Skybound Art Ragnarok Form. Ver 2.60 also adds the shared Chain Attack system, which derives from the triple attack's overhead and low options at a cost of Brave Points and 25 percent of the Skybound Gauge, plus the Super Ultimate+ mode and the new stage Einsteed Isles. The Switch 2 release brings Gyro VS, where swinging the Joy-Con 2 triggers combos and automatic guarding, and local wireless play.

AMATA Games announced on August 31, 2026, that it will release Crescent Tower: RISING, the sequel to the 8-bit style open dungeon RPG Crescent Tower, on Steam. The release date and price are undecided. The game is developed by solo developer kare-korokke, who also made the original. The sequel keeps the strategic command battles and mapping-based exploration of the first game, while adding a five-chapter omnibus story and a new growth system. The story follows different protagonists, including humans, former frogs, beastfolk, elves, and dragons, who each explore their own dungeons before uniting to conquer the Mikazuki Tower. The class count expands from nine in the original to 14, and a new skill block system lets players place skills of different shapes onto a skill board to customize characters. Skills can also be used in field exploration, such as a dragon character's flame ability clearing obstacles. Estimated playtime is 15 to 25 hours, up from 10 to 20 hours in the original. Supported languages include Japanese, English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, German, and French.

Raw Fury announced Kingdom III: Rising Realms during the Future Games Show: gamescom 2026 broadcast on August 27, 2026. The game is a side-scrolling strategy and tower defense title developed by Fury Studios, the in-house studio based in Croatia and Sweden that previously worked on Kingdom Two Crowns and Kingdom Eighties. Set in a medieval fantasy world inspired by Arthurian legend and Celtic mythology, the game casts players as a monarch who must restore a collapsed kingdom while defending against the mysterious invading force known as the Greed, which attacks each night. Unlike earlier entries that focused on defense, Kingdom III introduces a more aggressive playstyle: the king can throw a spear of light to take down multiple enemies at once. The game also expands the fortress development system, adds a revamped technology tree, and introduces Elite Soldiers, or Masters, such as the Master of Archery and the Merchant. Up to three Masters can be summoned simultaneously. The game supports local and online split-screen co-op and is planned for release in 2027 on PC via Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Japanese display support is planned.
