Chained Soldier Manga Goes on Hiatus Over Artist's Wrist Injury

Shonen Jump+ announced on Saturday that Chained Soldier, the manga by writer Takahiro and artist Yohei Takemura, is going on hiatus because of Takemura's health. Takemura said he injured his right wrist in June, with damage to the fibrocartilage, and that drawing in a brace has slowed his recovery. Shonen Jump+ lists a November 14 return, with Takemura's recovery as the priority.

Growth DX Inc. will hold Physical AI CROSS presented by BtoB Growth EXPO, a business conference for the physical AI and robotics field, on March 2, 2027 at Ariake Central Tower Hall. Jujutsu Fest 2026, the finale event closing the Jujutsu Kaisen anime's fifth anniversary, ran August 29-30 at K Arena Yokohama. Day 2 brought the full cast on stage, ALI opening with 'LOST IN PARADISE,' a Takada-chan live set, the Demmy Awards, and a music relay through the Culling Game. In closing remarks, Yuji Itadori voice actor Junya Enoki said he wants to deliver the animation's continuation soon.

Sekiro: No Defeat Reveals First-Week Gift, Stage Greetings, and Ohagi Collaboration

KADOKAWA announced on August 14, 2026 that the theatrical anime Sekiro: No Defeat will offer a newly drawn visual board by character designer Takahiro Kishida as its first-week visitor gift. The film, based on FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, will screen in theaters nationwide for a limited three-week run starting September 4. The B5-sized visual board will be distributed from September 4 to September 11, while supplies last at each theater. Commemorative stage greetings are scheduled for September 5 in Osaka and Nagoya, featuring director Kenichi Kutsuna, assistant director Shunsuke Fukui, and animation producer Shun Fukutome. A separate cast stage greeting will take place on September 6 at Shinjuku Wald 9, with voice actors Daisuke Namikawa, Miyuki Sato, Shizuka Ito, and Tetsuo Kanao. The film also announced a collaboration with Kakiyasu's Kofukudo wagashi shop, selling an original ohagi inspired by the ones Wolf and Kuro make in the story. A single ohagi costs 360 yen, while a three-piece set with a postcard costs 1,500 yen, available from September 4 at Kofukudo stores nationwide.

Fujiwara was known for a wide range of roles including Kurogiri in My Hero Academia, Jerome Guizbatt and Kenpachi Kiganjo in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Zenzō Inukai in Laughing Under the Clouds, Bol Gil Bol in BASTARD!!, Pippin in the Berserk: The Golden Age Arc films, Lu Gonghu in The irregular at magic high school, Goro Daimon in The King of Fighters XIV, and the Japanese voice of Revenant in Apex Legends. Following the announcement, dozens of fellow voice actors, production staff, and game publishers posted tributes on social media. Colleagues remembered him as a kind, warm presence on set who put nervous newcomers at ease, and praised his deep, resonant voice. SNK, the official Apex Legends Japan account, and the production committees for My Hero Academia, Bleach, and The irregular at magic high school all issued statements of condolence. Draw This, Then Die! Anime Reveals July 3 Premiere, Opening Theme

The television anime adaptation of Minoru Toyoda's manga Draw This, Then Die! will premiere on July 3. The first promotional video, released on Friday, reveals and previews the opening theme song "Isho" by Tatsuya Kitani. The series will air on NTV's "Friday Anime Night" programming block at 11:30 p.m. JST. The anime is directed by Hiroaki Akagi at Shinei Animation, with series scripts overseen by Hiroko Fukuda. The cast includes Akira Sekine as Ai Yasumi, Saori Hayami as Rei Teshima, and Inori Minase as Hikaru Sekiryū, among others. The manga, which launched in Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday in November 2021, won an award at the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards in January 2025 and the 16th Manga Taisho awards in 2023. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga for English release.
