Ghost in the Shell Anime Reveals MILLENNIUM PARADE Ending Song "Blue"

Bandai Namco Filmworks has revealed the ending theme for Science SARU's upcoming "Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell" television anime. The song, titled "Blue," is performed by MILLENNIUM PARADE, the creative collective led by King Gnu's Daiki Tsuneta, and features Canadian-Japanese artist Saya Gray and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar. According to Tsuneta, work on the track began roughly three years ago with Gray before Caesar later joined the project. A fourth promotional video previewing the song has also been released, focusing on the inner lives of characters centered on protagonist Motoko Kusanagi. The anime is set to premiere on July 7, 2026, airing on Kansai TV and Fuji TV's new anime programming block "Ka-Anival!!" on Tuesday nights at 11:00 p.m. Amazon Prime Video will stream the series worldwide except in Russia and China, with an early exclusive streaming window in Japan. The first two episodes will also screen at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 4, followed by a panel with director Mokochan, character designer Shuhei Handa, and producers.

Director Mokochan is making his directorial debut with the anime at Science SARU, having previously worked as a storyboarder and key animator on series including "DAN DA DAN," "The Heike Story," and "Tatami Time Machine Blues." Toh Enjoe, known for writing scripts for "Space Dandy" and "Godzilla Singular Point," is handling series composition and scripts. Taisei Iwasaki, who composed the music for "BELLE," is serving as music director and composing alongside Ryō Konishi and Yuki Kanesaka.

MILLENNIUM PARADE previously contributed to the "Ghost in the Shell" franchise with "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045." The collective, led by King Gnu's Daiki Tsuneta, renamed from "millennium parade" to "MILLENNIUM PARADE" in May 2024 and signed contracts with RCA UK and EPIC Records. Tsuneta said the song "was completed with the participation of Danny, whom I met on a trip." Saya Gray described working with Caesar and Tsuneta as "inspiring and really fun" and said she was "very excited about the intersection of different worldviews and cultures."

The anime will have its global premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June with its first two episodes. At Anime Expo 2026, the panel on July 4 will include director Mokochan, character designer Shuhei Handa, animation producer Shuhei Shindo, producer Kengo Abe, and Takeshi Katsurada from Young Magazine Editorial Department. An autograph session with Mokochan and Handa is scheduled for July 3. The Bandai Namco Filmworks booth at the venue will feature a dedicated corner for the series. Cast information has not yet been announced.
