Why it matters
OffKai's move into the Civic and South Hall, plus a Western solo debut for HIMEHINA, shows the convention scaling its venue footprint and its booking ambitions at the same time.
HIMEHINA played their first solo live performance in the West at the Civic, and OffKai LIVE: Dazzling Showtime ran more than three hours the next evening.
The San Jose Civic hosted HIMEHINA's LIFETIME is BUBBLIN stop on the tour's only North American date, a two-and-a-half-hour set the report describes as running like a feature film rather than a conventional concert. The next night, OffKai LIVE: Dazzling Showtime filled the same room for more than three hours, hosted by Keiseira and EllyEN, with OffChoir opening. Raki Kazuki and LAZULI presented the self-produced SURGE!!! 3D LIVE Musical, and Elia Stellaria and Penny Puffball assembled the Big British Exchange Concert. Grand sponsor The Wildcard Club opened applications for teams to be led by four VTubers.
