AK Interactive is releasing two 1/35 scale Trabant 601S plastic model kits, with Japanese sales handled by Platz. The first kit reproduces the Trabant 601 two-door sedan and can be built as either the civilian or police version, with over 80 parts, a 3D-printed seated driver figure, and 6 marking options. A first-impression review of the Overgeared anime reports that episode one delivers on the humor and pacing of the webtoon it adapts. The protagonist, Nagamine Takumi, known in-game as Grid, is a below-average Satisfy player whose discovery of the legendary blacksmith Pagma's techniques turns him into Pagma's Successor and opens a new quest. The review notes rushed pacing in the episode's first half and stronger later scenes. Episode 1 streams on Crunchyroll on September 27th.

In an interview published on Shueisha's Manga Million app, Tokyo Ghoul author Sui Ishida described working overnight five to six days a week, twelve to thirteen hours a day, then meeting staff at ten in the morning for storyboarding sessions of thirty minutes to an hour. He said he does not recall which days he worked, and that he asked a friend and his older sister for help with the manga's ending.
Natsu Hyuuga, the author of The Apothecary Diaries, will not attend the Overload NZ Anime & Manga Convention in New Zealand on Sep 26-27. The official series X account cited health reasons, and Hyuuga said she is hospitalized with blood test results not yet at a satisfactory level. Aniplex announced on September 21 that Fate/EXTRA Record will get a special program titled Fate/EXTRA Record TIMES, streaming October 15 at 20:00 on the official TYPE-MOON GAMES YouTube channel. Atsushi Abe and Yui Ishikawa, who play the game's protagonists, are scheduled to appear and introduce the game and deliver new information. Aniplex also detailed in-store demo events in four cities: Animate Sapporo on September 26 and 27, Animate Nagoya on October 3 and 4, Sofmap Namba Store on October 10 and 11, and Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Hakata on November 28 and 29. All four run from 11:00 to 17:00. Attendees who try the game receive one random Fate/EXTRA Record Original Die-Cut Sticker on a first-come basis. Four sticker types exist: Saber, Archer, Caster, and a secret type. Preorders at participating stores, or at the venue on the day, come with a not-for-sale store promotional poster. The game is planned by TYPE-MOON and releases January 28, 2027.
Konami Digital Entertainment will release Silent Hill: Townfall on September 24 for PlayStation 5 and PC, priced at 7,480 yen for the standard edition and 8,580 yen for the deluxe version. The psychological horror spin-off is developed by Scotland-based Screen Burn Interactive and runs entirely in first person, a departure from the series' usual third-person view. Protagonist Simon washes ashore on the fog-covered island of Saint Amelia with a hospital wristband and an IV tube in his arm, guided by a voice named Richard telling him to set things right. A pocket television called the CRTV replaces the series radio, tuning into signals to reveal creature silhouettes through walls and carry messages from a nurse named Zoe. Several review outlets played the retail PlayStation 5 version ahead of release, describing stealth-focused exploration, limited weapons with durability, and a second player-controlled character in Zoe whose clinic episodes unfold earlier than Simon's story.
Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series reached its 35th anniversary in 2026, and general producer Takashi Iizuka discussed the milestone in interviews at Tokyo Game Show 2026 with 4Gamer and Denfaminicogamer. Iizuka, who became series producer in 2010 and moved to the United States in 2016, said unifying the role followed years in which each title had its own director and its own image of the character. He named Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Frontiers as the most memorable projects of his run. No new Sonic game was announced at the show. Individual developer Tsukucchau Ojisan released the free browser mystery game 'Maoujou-mae Ten no Shukuhaku Meibo' on September 20. It runs on PC or smartphone without a download. Players restore a lodging register from 100 years ago by cross-referencing adventurers' thought wiretap records, entering document IDs built from a date, inn, room number, and guild ID. The official description calls it 'Obra Dinn-like.'
A collaboration cafe for the film Kitaro Tanjo: GeGeGe no Nazo and and GALLERY runs at three venues in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya under the theme Moonlit Night Banquet Cafe, with newly drawn art of Kitaro's Father and Mizuki. At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Skinny Bandit showed Mechjestic, a deck-building roguelite set in a steampunk world where players modify mechs and fight enemies. The demo opens with a choice of three characters, and the plan is to grow that roster to 22. Combat follows the Slay the Spire template, with fuel instead of mana, and adds card-free Attack and Ability actions, a Refuel system, and free deck editing. A Steam demo is available.
Tokoronyori's new game Twospeak (Working Title) appeared at the Kodansha Game Lab booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026. It is a two-player-only puzzle adventure, separate from the BOKURA series, in which each player is given a different vocabulary and the two decode each other's language while solving puzzles. The booth features 24 titles.
THREEPPY stores nationwide will carry a Retro Mickey design series based on Disney's Mickey & Friends, released in two waves. Aoshima is re-releasing its ACKS MFS-3 Kiryu plastic model, the version of the super weapon from Godzilla × Mechagodzilla. The kit is supervised by designer Shinji Nishikawa and stands about 24 cm tall. It includes opening and closing mouth parts, Absolute Zero, leg verniers, arm unit knives, replacement gun barrels, interchangeable hands and clear red eye parts for the rampage state. Moebius Models is releasing three 1/25 scale plastic model kits: the 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS Convertible, the 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS Coupe, and the 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landau Coupe. The convertibles include a straight-6 engine and a folded roof, while the Monte Carlo features a V8 engine, a removable hood, and detailed chassis parts. Platz will import and sell the kits in Japan starting in November 2026.
Arcane Ermine announced at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026 broadcast on September 21 that Obstacle Overdrive will launch on October 3, Japan time, for PC via Steam. The game has players drive an RC car through courses built from toys, rolling down slopes, playing car bowling, crossing seesaws and log bridges, and passing through marble holes to reach the goal. HYPERRISE began distributing FORTBLOX: Mobile Fortress Racing Across the Wasteland on September 21, 2026, for iOS and Android through the App Store and Google Play. The free-to-play title with in-app purchases is an auto-battler set after a civilization collapse caused by energy depletion. Players combine roughly 40 block types with about 100 weapons and characters to build a mobile fortress, and block choice and placement change both the fortress's abilities and how battles play out.

The 3D action game puts a rabbit-eared ninja in an Edo-style world against sci-fi mechanical karakuri, with sword slashes, an umbrella and gourd sub-weapons, wire movement, a parry called Nagashi, and a slow-motion Zanchintessh finisher that lets players cut enemies apart from any angle.

Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA brought Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember to Tokyo Game Show 2026 as a playable demo at Makuhari Messe. The sequel to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty keeps Hua Jin, the timed deflect that links parries into counterattacks, and adds Huang Techniques that borrow the phoenix's power to boost dash, guard, jump, Qinggong and Hua Jin. Aerial combat and open battlefields are also in the build.
Fujimi is adding two versions of the Suzuki Jimny JB23 (Land Venture) to its 1/24 Car NEXT Series. The pearl white kit is priced at 4,950 yen and the non-color kit at 5,170 yen. Both are 1/24 scale, measure about 165 by 77 by 72 mm, and are scheduled for release on Thursday, December 17, 2026.
The official account for the theatrical anime SEKIRO: NO DEFEAT announced on September 21 that additional screenings will begin October 2, along with a second round of theater locations. The film, based on FromSoftware's SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE, was originally set for a three-week run from September 4. It is fully hand-drawn 2D animation directed by Kenichi Kutsuna, with character design by Takahiro Kishida and animation production by Qzil.la. Daisuke Namikawa, Miyuki Sato and Kenjiro Tsuda reprise their game roles.
Taito announced on September 21, 2026 that it will release Estpolis Biography I&II, a package collecting the first two Lufia RPGs, in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The set pairs the 1993 original, about a descendant of a legendary hero and a girl named Lufia, with the 1995 prequel Estpolis Biography II, which follows Maxim and his companions. Pixel graphics are kept as they were, and Masahide Miyata, the series planner, cooperated on adjustments for current hardware. Miyata said the Super Famicom version used heavy hiragana because of capacity limits, so all dialogue in both games was reread and converted to kanji. Taito also opened a teaser site and a Steam store page, and Clear River Games is handling North American and European sales. Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu, who had named Estpolis Biography II as an origin of his gaming, posted a delighted reaction on X.
Kyrel Games released Screw IT on PC via Steam, a first-person tidying sim where the player sorts 777 nails and a single screw delivered in place of an online order. Nails come in five condition types (normal, bent, rusty, bent and rusty, and damaged), can be repaired with tools, and go into 17 boxes. Cozy Mode adds hints and gradual tool unlocks; Timer Mode has no hints and runs on a clock. It is 808 yen, with 20 percent off through October 4.
The BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War anime has brought battles and settings not depicted in the original manga to the screen, with original creator Tite Kubo serving as general supervisor. The production team consults Kubo while producing anime-original scenes, and voice actor Masakazu Morita has explained that these additions are not settings the anime side invented but story that existed within Kubo. The source describes Kubo's involvement as rare in depth for a manga-based anime.
