Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition releases on November 12, 2026, with a trial version out November 2. Nintendo has also fixed November 1 as an annual Pikmin Day, with a monthly short movie series and a Pikmin Bloom activity built around it.
Nintendo announced the Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 during the Nintendo Direct 2026.9.9 broadcast on September 9, 2026, with a release set for November 12, 2026. The version supports the console's built-in microphone, so players can give commands to their Pikmin by voice. It adds a mode in which players race to see how quickly they can carry treasure, announced as Everyone's Challenge! Dandori Exam. The original Pikmin 4 launched on the original Switch in 2023.
A video titled "Pikmin Day Direct" went up on Nintendo's official YouTube channel on October 31, 2026. Shigeru Miyamoto appeared in it to announce that November 1 is Pikmin Day every year. The same broadcast put a date on the trial version: November 2, ahead of the November 12 release. The demo covers the early Sun-Speckled Terrace area and two stages of the certification mode, and save data carries over to the main game. The October video gave the package a different English title from the September announcement, Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Challenge for Everyone! Dandori Certification.
The Pikmin Day video carried the rest of the promotion. A short movie series themed on Pikmin, "Hello! Pikmin," will run one installment per month on the Nintendo Today! app and other platforms, with two arriving in November, on November 1 and another day in the month. Pikmin Bloom gets a Secret Caves activity for collecting treasures, tied to the Switch 2 release and set to be distributed this winter. The effect is that November 1 now holds the series' promotion rather than a single product launch, with the game itself arriving eleven days later.
