Inti Creates will hold an in-store demo event for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Grim Guardians: Servants of the Dark on October 24, 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00 at Trader Akihabara 2nd Store. Players get a postcard, and anyone who reserves the standard or limited edition on the spot, or brings proof of an existing reservation from any store, receives a promotional B2 poster. Dean Hall, creator of DayZ, has released the BRUTAL game development framework and its source code through his studio RocketWerkz. BRUTAL is used in RocketWerkz's Kitten Space Agency and was provided as the foundation for Waylith, the engine built for Ludeon Studios' RimWorld. It is open source under the MIT License and free for commercial works, with conditions: credit, copyright and logo on the startup screen, and the NOTICE file.
Prime 1 Studio is adding an Ultimate Premium Masterline Batman (Comic) Batman VS Clayface statue, built from a Jim Lee illustration from Batman: One Bad Day. The 1/4 scale piece stands about 83cm tall and weighs roughly 44.55kg, priced at 340,890 yen. Pre-orders run from October 15 to December 15, 2026, with release set between March and June 2028. A DX Version and DX Bonus Version add extra parts.
Prime 1 Studio will release a Justice League (Comic) Batman 'Advanced Suit' White Ver. statue designed by concept artist Josh Nizzi, part of the Ultimate Museum Masterline line. The polystone piece stands 50.8cm tall, 29cm wide and 27.6cm deep, weighs about 6.3kg, and includes a special base and a detachable fabric cape. The chest has an LED light-up function. Shueisha is listing two new novel adaptations for December 4. Nanao writes The Promised Neverland: A 10th Year Gift, a 10th anniversary novel following Emma and the other children after the manga's final chapter, with stories about Cislo and the Lambda group and about Phil and the younger children. The same author writes Blue Box Epilogue, set before and after that manga's ending, including Taiki and Chinatsu's drive and Hina in university rhythmic gymnastics.
Ludeon Studios announced RimWorld update 1.7 on October 13, moving the colony sim from Unity to Waylith, an engine built in-house. The studio says startup, loading, map generation, and in-game processing are 2 to 4 times faster, and that a stress test of a late-game colony ran at 2.2 times the speed of version 1.6. With a mod pack of 1,500 mods, load time fell from 14 minutes to 6 minutes. Ludeon states that 1.6 saves load in 1.7, 1.7 saves run in 1.6, and most mods work without changes, though some may show an incompatibility warning and the build may not run on PCs more than 10 years old. Version 1.7 is playable now on Steam's unstable beta branch, with no stable release date given. The studio also said a new title is in development on Waylith, with details to come later.
Dungeon Settlers, a dark fantasy strategy game from CanOpener, entered early access for PC and Mac on September 4 at 2,480 yen with Japanese support. In a Game Spark interview, CEO and director Logan said the game pairs RimWorld-style base and character management with Darkest Dungeon-style tactical dungeon combat, and that he plans to address player criticism of thin content and shallow base management.
Anamanaguchi will play Shibuya duo MUSIC EXCHANGE on October 13, the band's first Japanese stage as a full band since Blip Festival Tokyo in 2011. Animalsoft released a free playable demo for Indoor Shrimp Farming Simulator on PC via Steam on October 9. The aquarium sim starts as a tank management game where players breed shrimp for money, then shifts into third-person 3D exploration: shrimp leap from the tank, ride a skateboard around town, talk with other shrimp, and take on requests. The demo covers more than 1,700 shrimp color varieties, and firearms appear.
The first wave of merchandise for "Horimiya 15th POP UP SHOP" has been announced ahead of its Friday, December 4, 2026 opening at Yurakucho Marui and other venues. Good Smile Company has opened preorders on Amazon.co.jp for the G.S.Collection Hatsune Miku Cheerleading Ver., a 1/7 scale painted plastic figure based on an illustration by Morimoto from the Hatsune Miku x Good Smile Illustration Contest Vol. 3. It stands about 254mm, is sculpted by Pot of Digital Pot with coloring by Ekoshi and production cooperation from the GSC Production Department, and is priced at 27,800 yen with a release date of November 30, 2027.
RENGAME announced on October 8 that Keroro Gunso☆ Hachamecha TV Show will release on December 9, Keroro's birthday. Mod creator urtubesrclogged has released a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Skyrim VR on Nexus Mods that adds an adventurers guild system, inspired by classic RPGs and isekai manga and anime. Players talk to innkeepers acting as guild representatives in each hold capital, earn reputation through combat and dungeon reports, climb ranks from E to S, carry a portable guild card, and register up to nine companions in a party.
Developer Farelas released the co-op survival horror game The Crimson Hunt on Steam for PC at 1,600 yen, discounted 20 percent until October 21. Set in a mansion deep in a remote forest, it follows Victoria, a vampire hunter haunted by her past, and Eleanor, a young woman abducted by an ancient vampire. The game has local split-screen co-op, third-person combat, resource management, and environment-based puzzles. A major update is planned with costumes and new elements.
The film BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora will give first-week theatergoers shikishi-style cards with new illustrations by Osamu Shigenawa, across all five types. An "Ave Mujica Manner Course Theater" segment will screen before the main feature. NEOLAVI began distributing a demo version of the PC game "Are You Curious About What's Inside Your Oshi?" on Steam on October 6, 2026. Players take the role of a rookie security guard at the entrance of the VTuber agency Stellaria, deciding whether to allow or deny visitors entry. The guard is a longtime listener of the agency's VTuber Hoshino Luna, having followed her since her debut, and took the job to protect her from close range. Players inspect entry passes, schedules, affiliation certificates, and other documents. Inspection items increase as days pass, adding anti-counterfeit logo verification, X-ray baggage inspection, voice authentication, and emergency response to suspicious individuals. Visitors include agency staff, stream-related personnel, VTubers, and unidentified individuals. Players can interrogate those who seem suspicious. The game is in development for Windows on Steam. The demo supports Japanese.
Tentacle Soft exhibited "Don't Call It a Kusoge, Streamer-san" at OSAKA INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2026, held October 3 and 4 at Congres Square Grand Green Osaka. The game is a metafictional jump action in which a Korean developer makes a house call on a Japanese streamer who reviewed a fictional predecessor, "Happy Nanaru." It is built on the developer's own earlier run-and-jump game, "Super Nanaru."
A beta of "Fallout 4 Community Shaders," a fan-made graphics plug-in, is out on Nexus Mods. Kuzey Gok, a software development engineer at Microsoft, ported it from "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition." The beta adds upscaling, frame generation, and lighting adjustments. Installation needs prerequisite mods, the supported game version is Windows 1.11.240, and it conflicts with the separate plug-in ENB.

Manga Time Kirara Forward announced on Thursday that Norimitsu Kaiho and Kurageso's Akarui Mirai will end in the next issue on October 23. The pair launched the series in the magazine in August 2025, with Kaiho writing and Kurageso drawing. Houbunsha shipped the second compiled volume on July 10. The story follows Mirai, a girl who struggles to socialize, and a foul-mouthed AI from the future.
Pearl Abyss said on September 30, 2026 that the release of Charting the Unknown, the first large-scale DLC for the open-world action adventure game Crimson Desert, has been moved from October 15, 2026 to October 30. The studio said it needed additional development time to deliver higher-quality content and a stable play experience, and apologized to players who had been waiting. In the Asian region including Japan, distribution is scheduled for October 30, 2026 at 7:00 JST. The DLC adds new adventures by sea and underwater, housing, and deeper interaction with NPCs. Pre-orders are open, with the Unknown Explorer Diving Suit Set for Cliff and Unka and the Unknown Explorer Lightweight Diving Suit Set for Damiane. The DLC is set for PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store, plus PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. App Store sales are undecided, with Pearl Abyss to provide separate information when a decision is made.
THQ Nordic will release Titan Quest II in full on January 19, 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The action RPG from Grimlore Games has been in early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store since August 2025. Version 1.0 completes the adventure that grew through that period and adds new elements, with pre-order bonus details still to come. The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Its ancient Greek setting has Nemesis, the goddess of retribution, lose control and try to impose eternal punishment on anyone who defies her. Players cross sandy beaches, temples, ruins, and the realm of the Moirai, and fight centaurs, griffins, hippocampi, cyclopes, and Ixion. Classes come from combining two masteries, with skill modifiers, attributes, and equipment left open to the player. Development continues after launch, with new lands, features, and story planned.
ArtDink announced on September 25, 2026 that A-Train 9 PRIME LINE will launch for PC on Steam on December 10 at 18,480 yen including tax. The city-development railway simulation reworks track and road laying with a new Flexible setting that generates curves and gradients at any curvature or angle, allowing long gentle curves and loop lines. Track appearance can be chosen from four types: ballast track in gray or brown, direct-fastening track, and slab track. Train consists expand to a maximum of 16 cars, up from 10, and coupled trains can run freight formations of up to 32 cars. Curved stations with curved platforms are added, along with two-lane-each-way roads. The Japanese version includes 341 vehicles from JR and private railways and about 600 structure types. ArtDink also plans a special-price campaign for owners of A-Train 9 Ver.1.0 through Ver.5.0, with details to come on Steam News and the official website.
Takara Tomy will add five figures to its Transformers Age of the Primes line in late March 2027, with pre-orders opening Friday, October 2, 2026. Transformers AOTP-53 Guzzle is a fully transformable figure of a Wrecker, around 168mm tall and priced at 7,150 yen. AOTP-54 Cybershark is a Maximal who changes between robot mode and a shark beast mode, listed at the same price and roughly 206mm tall. The lineup also names Skygard, Autobot Breakaway, and Alpha Bravo, though the sources give no scale, price, or SKU details for those three. The Age of the Primes line builds its figures around the 13 Primes, the origin figures of the Transformers fiction, and has been working through Primes that had rarely been made as toys. The game is Torima Hedoban, a rhythm title where you headbang with no controller. It was made in BitSummit Game Jam 2026 under the theme "High Impact: Break Through." The results screen grades how many times and how fast you shook your head. The team wants paid distribution eventually.
The 3D turn-based RPG Tougen Anki Crimson Inferno, developed by Com2uS from the TV anime Tougen Anki, will carry an original story and original characters that appear only in the game. The development team told 4Gamer that the split between anime-based content and original content is effectively about half and half, after original elements went unshown at Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Prime 1 Studio is producing 1/4-scale statues of Master Chief and of an Elite Zealot & Grunt Minor pair under its Ultimate Premium Masterline line, based on Halo: Campaign Evolved. The Master Chief statue stands 78cm tall, includes a special base and swappable arms for an energy sword or assault rifle, and carries LED features in the base, helmet and energy sword. Preorders run September 18 to November 18, 2026, priced at 278,190 yen, with release planned for around February to May 2028.

DOOM Eternal arrives in its Microsoft Store version, alongside RiMS Racing and Wall World 2. Members who claim each title within its distribution window keep it afterward without restrictions. DOOM Eternal is the second entry in the reboot series that began with DOOM in 2016, built around Glory Kill finishers and aerial dash movement.

Leo Morimoto, born Haruyuki Morimoto, died suddenly on September 4 from unknown causes, his agency said. He was 83. Born in Nagoya on February 13, 1943, he worked as a radio DJ before appearing in the 1974 NHK series Kiiroi Namida, and went on to roles across Long Vacation and Shomuni. He starred as Shitotsugh Lhadatt in Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise and narrated Bartender and Dragon Goes House-Hunting.
The Transformers YouTube channel posted a 30-second clip from the 12-minute "Optimus Prime: Awakening" animated short on Thursday. The clip is restricted from playing in Japan. The short plays after the ending credits in anniversary screenings tied to Fathom Entertainment and Hasbro's 4K re-release of The Transformers: The Movie, which opens September 17 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, France, Singapore, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Peru.

IKEA and Bethesda released a free creation for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on September 9, 2026. It is called KALLAX STORAGEBORN. The mod turns IKEA's white Kallax shelf unit into a fully voiced traveling companion. The shelf follows the Dragonborn around while wobbling, can be loaded with loot, and helps organize a player's home. Actor Matt Berry provides the voice work, according to 4Gamer.net. The same day, IKEA UK's official YouTube channel published a trailer in which the Dragonborn shouts "IKEA!" to summon the shelf. IKEA said the collaboration is meant to address the game's inventory problem, since Skyrim pushes players to collect thousands of item types. The update also adds new items, quests, dungeons, and bosses, and the player faces a creature called Clutter. It is downloadable from the Bethesda Creations website or from inside the game.
Takara Tomy announced seven new figures for its Transformers Age of the Primes (AOTP) line, scheduled for release in late February 2027, with pre-orders opening on September 9, 2026. The line centers on the Thirteen Primes, the originators of the Transformers. Among the new items are two large figures: AOTP-46 Jetfire (Armada Universe), a space shuttle that includes three Minicons (Astroscope, Sky Blast, and Payload) that combine into the Astro Blaster weapon, and AOTP-47 Optimus Prime (Armada Universe), a tractor-trailer whose container transforms into a battle station base and can link up for a Super Mode. Video creator Friendly Apocryphon ran an experiment where large-scale language model GPT-6 Astra played RimWorld to completion. The AI received one instruction at the start: play until starship escape without asking for permission. After roughly 15 hours of actual play, it escaped the planet with all colonists and its pet chinchilla, using internet searches, computer operations, and a self-made learning file.
VTuber and rapper Peanuts-kun will hold the three-city live tour BRIMOIRE on November 2, 4, and 12 at Zepp Nagoya, Zepp Osaka Bayside, and Zepp Haneda (TOKYO).
