Minecraft Java Edition Shelves P2P Play Feature After Pre-Release Test
Mojang Studios released Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 Pre-Release 1, which removes the peer-to-peer connection feature introduced in the previous snapshot. The feature let players join games from their friend list without a dedicated server, but Mojang said it was not an ideal experience for all players and is not ready for official release. The update also includes UI changes, model updates, and performance fixes.
