Developers who want to understand how an app works without access to its source code can now point an AI agent at the binary and ask. The tool is called REA, short for Reverse Engineer Anything. It runs through MCP or a terminal and works with agents including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and Grok Build. The agent calls REA, REA inspects the target and reports findings with supporting evidence, and the agent uses that output to explain behavior, write code, and run tests. Analysis happens in a local environment. The project is open source and hosted on GitHub under the repository morluto/rea. Sample tasks in the documentation include asking why 200 plus 10 percent returns 220 in Windows Calculator and why the Chrome dinosaur game speeds up, then rebuilding a small version with adjustable speed.

PLAYISM announced Dyping Working: Work Surveillance Game on October 13 and opened its Steam store page. Developed by Heaviside Creations, the PC work horror adventure game is planned for release in 2027. It is a spin-off of the horror typing game series that began with DYPING, a free title played more than 700,000 times, and continued with Dyping Escape, which launched on Steam in March 2026 and holds a Very Positive rating with about 91 percent of roughly 560 user reviews positive. In the new game, an eyeball on the screen forces the player to sign a pledge: I accept all surveillance related to work. Mouse cursor movement and whether other tabs are open are detected. Slacking off can bring punishment after work. Players can talk with the eyeball, whose reactions shift over time, and the story reveals the secret of its birth and bloody experiments.

Union Creative is re-releasing its Super Sonico White cat ver. figure, listed on Amazon.co.jp at 20,636 yen with tax included and a scheduled release of June 30, 2027. The non-scale painted PVC and ABS figure stands about 270mm including the base. Sculpting is credited to Minheru of Blond Parrot, with paint by Nana Moriyama. The glasses come off, giving the cat-ear and white swimsuit version a second look.

The protagonist, an out-of-work actor named ROCK SILVA, spends five months confined to his apartment during the 2020 coronavirus outbreak, running out of food and losing his grip. Yen Press announced five new licenses at New York Comic Con on Friday. The list includes the Fate/strange Fake light novels by Ryohgo Narita with original concept by TYPE-MOON, the Kino's Journey light novels by Keiichi Sigsawa with illustrations by Kouhaku Kuroboshi, and the Spice and Wolf Diner: Gourmet Exploration manga by Sera Murase and original creator Isuna Hasekura. Two more light novel series were also picked up: The Girls Adrift Among the Stars and Dungeon Master: Creating a Hot Spring Dungeon.

Migalo Holdings and its subsidiary DXYZ announced that DXYZ's facial recognition ID platform FreeiD will be installed at Well-being Shigino, a wooden apartment building developed by Imamura Real Estate in Osaka's Joto Ward. FreeiD will be placed at the building entrance and at each unit's front door, covering all exclusive-use areas. The two companies will jointly promote housing convenience using the technology.

Square Enix began distributing a demo for VAULTBREAKERS, the top-down extraction action RPG developed by Copenhagen studio BetaDwarf, on Steam on October 9, 2026. The demo lets players pick one of two characters, the elven ranger Nymera or the ice-focused warrior Bjornir, and explore the early-game map either solo or in co-op for up to three players. Expeditions send players into a corrupted field to collect ancient relics; anything not carried back to the Safe Haven base is lost. BetaDwarf announced the shadow drop and the publishing deal during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase broadcast. The full version is planned to add a PvPvE mode and five heroes, with the three characters absent from the demo scheduled for an alpha playtest on Steam from October 16 to 23. A release date and price are undecided.

Crunchyroll acquired the North American and worldwide rights to The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure, the franchise's first theatrical anime film, the company announced Thursday. The deal covers every territory outside Asia, India included, and Crunchyroll will handle distribution with Sony Pictures Entertainment. No international release date is set. The film opens in Japanese theaters on December 11 with an original story from light novel author Natsu Hyuga, who writes a new mystery rather than adapting an existing volume. Norihiro Naganuma directs at TOHO Animation STUDIO. Mariya Ise joins the cast as Mu Qing. The plot sends Maomao and Jinshi to Binan-shu, a southern province ruled by the Bi clan, to return the remains of a concubine who died five years ago; pirates are hunting a treasure their late leader hid, and the funeral day brings a major incident. Season 3's first cour began in October 2026, with a second cour set for April 2027.

Kotobukiya is reworking its Great Exkaiser plastic model from Brave Exkaiser as a "FULL EDITION" with a new one-piece molded upper arm, plus the interchangeable head, face and mane parts and hip joint frame that shipped as bonus parts with Dino Geist. The non-scale kit stands about 180mm tall, includes four weapon parts and the Dragon Archery, and is scheduled for March 2027 at 9,680 yen.

XREAL announced domestic pricing for its Android XR headset, XREAL Aura, on October 8, 2026, and opened remaining balance payments for customers who had bought reservation passes. The 12GB memory and 256GB storage model costs 229,800 yen, and the 16GB memory and 512GB storage model costs 269,800 yen, both tax included. Both configurations come in M size for 60 to 66mm interpupillary distance and L size for 66 to 72mm. The headset's glasses portion weighs roughly 95 grams and connects to a separate compute pack carrying a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite chip, memory, storage, and battery. The pack has a front touchpad for operating the OS and apps, unlike the Meta VR Glasses announced in September 2026, whose pack has only a power button. XREAL plans general order acceptance within the next few weeks, with shipping set for within the year.

Union Creative has opened preorders on Amazon.co.jp for a figure based on an original illustration by Tomogu Souji, titled Hagoromo China Mei Mei. The non-scale PVC and ABS painted piece stands about 256mm to the head and 275mm to the biwa, sculpted by manau with production cooperation from En craft and paint by Imomu. It is listed at 28,600 yen with a release date of January 30, 2028.

Bit Reactor has started returning employees who were placed on temporary unpaid leave, CEO Greg Foertsch said on October 8. Roughly 80 percent of the STAR WARS Zero Company development team had been on leave, with minimal staff handling bug fixes. Game File, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that paid staffing has recovered to more than half its level before the leave. The number who have returned is not disclosed.

The Pokemon Company finished maintenance on Pokemon HOME on October 7 and turned on connectivity with the Nintendo Switch version of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Players can now move Pokemon caught in FireRed and LeafGreen into the cloud service and carry them into other Pokemon titles. The transfer runs one way, so Pokemon sent to Pokemon HOME cannot go back to FireRed and LeafGreen. Completing the Kanto Pokedex (GBA) in the smartphone version of Pokemon HOME earns a Celebi housed in a Cherish Ball with the original trainer name Mitsurin. The same update raised the Pokemon HOME Premium Plan deposit ceiling from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokemon, with the plan's fee unchanged. Pokemon HOME is free to use on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. FireRed and LeafGreen arrived on Nintendo Switch on February 27, 2026 as a port of the 2004 Game Boy Advance remake of the original Red and Green.

Good Smile Company opened preorders for a Nendoroid of Fuji Miyako, the keyboardist of Mugendai Mewtype from BanG Dream!. The painted, posable, non-scale figure stands about 100mm tall and includes a dedicated stand. PocketReal Inc. released the official version of its MR streaming platform PocketReal, which places VTubers and 3D characters in a viewer's real space on Meta Quest 3 and 3S. The viewing app is free, and some MR live and MR content is paid. Microsoft released MAI-Transcribe-2-Streaming on October 1, 2026, its first real-time transcription model. Analysis by the third-party organization Artificial Analysis found it has the lowest error rate among the real-time transcription models tested. It has shorter latency than models of equivalent accuracy. The model is available through an API at $0.54 per hour until the end of 2026.

The launch trailer for DISK-Y, a retro visual novel from developer Bibu, is out. It is a spin-off of the horror novel "This Game Is Not Real.," which moved to DLsite and BOOTH after reaching 24,000 wishlists and citing Steam's distribution standards. DISK-Y follows a transfer student named Yu. It is under Steam review, has passed 4,000 wishlists, and is set for a November 2026 PC release at 330 yen.

The Pokemon Information Bureau account posted a Respect for the Aged Day video on September 21 showing the old man Hagi chasing his Wingull, Peeko-chan, in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. MBC Game Studio announced its debut title 1001 Threads of Mizan at Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live. The co-op action-adventure supports up to three players and ships on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Creative Director Lars Bonde, who spent eight years at Ubisoft on Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2, told Automaton the game is set in the world of One Thousand and One Nights.

Toonami will begin airing the Wind Breaker and Gachiakuta anime in the United States on October 10 and 17, which fall on the nights of October 11 and 18. The block also adds the Get Jiro! animated series on October 10. Wind Breaker, adapted from Satoru Nii's manga, premiered in April 2024 with a second season in April 2025. Gachiakuta, from Kei Urana's manga, premiered in Japan in July 2025 and will get a second season.

Katsuwo launched a manga adaptation of Renren Ii's Oja no Ban Kuruwase shogi light novels in the November issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki Daioh G on Monday. The issue's front cover features the manga. Renren Ii began serializing the novels on Kakuyomu in December 2023. Kadokawa published the first print volume on March 21 with illustrations by Fujiko, the third on August 24, and the fourth is set for November 20.

OceanVeil will debut the English dub of Now That I Can Control Reality With A Mouse Cursor, I'm Gonna Click Away On The Girls! on October 4, the same day as the Japanese television premiere. The cast includes Ty Wilkins as Takumi Matsuo, Roo Ryder as Mone Himeno, Alexandria Loverro as Kaoru Nishimiya, and Sneha Kumar as Mirei Aida. Jordan Woollen directs the dub, with Laura K.
