Prime Video Adds 47 TBS Drama Series in July 2026 Lineup

Prime Video announced its July 2026 streaming lineup, including 47 TBS drama series rolling out from July 1. Titles include medical time-travel drama 'JIN -仁-', supernatural suspense 'SPEC', school drama 'Dragon Zakura' (2005 and 2021 versions), and con-artist thriller 'Kurosagi' (2006 and 2022 versions). Other additions include the anime film 'The Dangers in My Heart' and the new TV anime 'Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell'.

Kasagi Labo Unveils New Ninja Scroll Project, Living in a World Without Magic Feature

Singapore-based anime venture studio Kasagi Labo announced multiple projects during its MIFA presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 24. The company unveiled a new film connected to the Ninja Scroll franchise, with Masao Maruyama, producer of the original 1993 film and co-founder of Madhouse and MAPPA, serving as special creative advisor. Kasagi Labo also announced a theatrical feature adaptation of the viral YouTube short Living in a World Without Magic, which has amassed over six million views. The screenplay is by Michiko Yokote, known for Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, and Shirobako. Two additional projects were revealed: Casshan 2045, a reimagining of Tatsunoko Production's 1973 classic with character designs by Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano, and Ars Gratia, an original sci-fi feature from director Ilya Kuvshinov developed with Good Smile Company and Liden Films. The company also provided production updates on its feature GATE 2 and the original sci-fi series Special Kid Factory, from talent behind ID: Invaded. Kasagi Labo is using its AnimeOshi platform to gather fan feedback and crowdfunding through an 'Open Pitch' model, which it presented as an alternative to the traditional production committee system.

Snap Announces Specs AR Smart Glasses for Fall 2026 Release

Snap, the company behind Snapchat, announced its AR smart glasses SPECS at the Augmented World Expo 2026 on June 16. Priced at $2,195 (about 350,000 yen), the standalone glasses feature a 51-degree field of view, dual cameras, and indicator lights for privacy. Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Bubble Pitcher Becomes Adult Role-Play Toy

Premium Bandai opens pre-orders June 12 for a commercialized Bubble Pitcher from the 2003 anime Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. Part of the Special Memorize adult role-play toy line, the 17 cm clear-plastic pitcher produces bubbles when filled with liquid soap and water and the handle is turned. Price is 4,950 yen, shipping in December 2026.

A Returner's Magic Should Be Special Season 2 Premieres in October With FLOW Opening

The second season of the anime adaptation of Wookjakga and Usonan's webcomic A Returner's Magic Should Be Special will premiere on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block in October 2026. The rock band FLOW, which performed the first season's opening theme "GET BACK," returns to create a new opening song titled "Sorrow" for the second season. The announcement came on June 7 alongside a teaser visual and a promotional video. The first season will re-air on Fuji TV and Kansai TV starting July 2, 2026, leading into the new season. Arvo Animation returns as the animation studio, with Taishi Kawaguchi directing, Takumi Kouno handling series composition and scripts, and Hiromi Kato designing the characters. The main cast includes Takuma Terashima as Desir Herman, Sayumi Suzushiro as Romantica Eru, Natsumi Fujiwara as Pram Schnaizer, and Asami Seto as Azest Kingscrown. Crunchyroll streamed the first season with an English dub and is expected to handle the second season. The webcomic, based on Usonan's original story, ran on Kakao Page from September 2016 to August 2019, with the webtoon adaptation launching in May 2018.

Cities: Skylines Remastered Japan Special Edition Gets PS5 Package Release in 2026

Spike Chunsoft announced on June 4, 2026, that the PS5 package version of Cities: Skylines Remastered Japan Special Edition will launch within 2026. The remastered version, previously released overseas in 2023, adds larger buildable tiles and improved graphics. The PS4 version will end sales from Spike Chunsoft on June 30, with Paradox Interactive taking over.

Aoshima Adds RASTY PS13 Silvia '91 to The☆Tuned Car Kit Series

Aoshima announced a new 1/24 scale plastic model kit in its The☆Tuned Car series, reproducing the RASTY R-SPEC aero spec version of the 1991 Nissan Silvia PS13. The kit includes a front bumper spoiler, side steps, over fenders, GT wing, 18-inch aftermarket wheels, and sports muffler. It is scheduled for release in October 2026 at 3,410 yen.

Super Robot Wars OG Comic Chapter 83 Launches With Shadow Mirror 2

Dengeki Hobby Web announced the release of Chapter 83 of the web comic Super Robot Wars OG -The Inspector- Record of ATX, titled Shadow Mirror 2. The chapter shows the Hagane and Hiryu Kai task force attacking Vindel's Zweizergain, which uses System XN to manipulate shadows from a parallel world. Lamia senses Vindel has a hidden goal beyond returning home. Volume 11 of the comic, covering episodes 75-81, is now on sale.

Fictional VTuber Takes Center Stage in 'Law & Order: SVU' Episode

A fictional VTuber named Jaded_Ember became the focus of an April 2 episode of NBC's 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' titled 'Vivid.' The episode, directed by Norberto Barba and written by Roxanne Paredes and Nicholas Evangelista, features the character confessing during a livestream that she was sexually assaulted. Two fans vandalize her ex-boyfriend's car in response, leading the SVU team, led by Capt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), to investigate. The person behind the VTuber, April, is portrayed by Canadian actress Sarah Desjardins. The episode was first noticed by VTuber Ice mage Sol, who posted about it on X/Twitter. VTuber NewsDrop reported that the series commissioned actual VTuber artists for the model: Somie handled the character design, and Shatra created the Live2D model, with a three-day deadline. Some VTubers, including Sol and Kendra Bratton, expressed disappointment that the VTuber aspect was only used as an introductory plot device, with the rest of the episode focusing on trauma and memory. NBC did not comment on the episode's production.

Kasagi Labo Commits $10M To Anime Projects, Including Special Kid Factory

Singapore-based anime venture studio Kasagi Labo has committed $10 million toward anime productions, with the sci-fi adventure series Special Kid Factory as the first title supported by the investment. The anime is co-produced with NAZ Studio, known for ID: INVADED, Good Night World, and Sabikui Bisco. Special Kid Factory follows Genpei, an ordinary boy who discovers he is a clone of Denshiin, a seasoned detective, as they embark on a galactic quest solving mysteries in a universe of "Special Kids." The creative team includes director Atsushi Ikariya (Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf), scriptwriter Outarou Maijou (The Dragon Dentist), and character designer Yuuki Kodama (ID: INVADED). A trailer debuted at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July 2024. Kasagi Labo also recently completed a $12 million fundraising round led by Burda Principal Investments and other strategic partners. Founder Kendrick Wong said the goal is to contribute to anime production and distribution for a global era, pushing storytelling boundaries and introducing new ways for fans and partners to interact with anime.
