A collaboration cafe for the TV anime MAO will run at Share CAFE [Retro MIX] in two locations. The Yurakucho Marui store in Tokyo hosts it from November 3 to November 15, 2026, and the Nagoya Central Park store from November 7 to November 15. Food and drinks based on Mao and other characters are planned, along with goods using newly drawn illustrations, sold online at Anique Shop from November 3 to December 7.
At Machi Asobi vol.31 in Tokushima, Aniplex producer Yuma Takahashi held the debut event for his MC Training Project. Takahashi, in his 23rd year at Aniplex and MC of roughly 500 events, selected four voice actors from about 20 agency applicants through auditions. Three appeared: Katsuhiro Tokuishi and Yu Kosaka of 81 Produce and Yu Kawada of Rakuen Dog. Yuki Ayami of Across Entertainment was absent for work.
Universal Music Japan asked fans on October 15 to stop using the hashtag #KAITO for King & Prince member Kaito Takahashi's solo work and use #KAITO_SALTBOY instead. The label posted alongside the announcement of his 1st EP, SALT BOY. The request follows two weeks of dispute with fans of Crypton Future Media's Vocaloid KAITO over the shared name.
The Hirayasumi TV anime will air on NHK General TV starting January 2027, and a teaser PV has been released along with the main cast. Shueisha will terminate its contract with Walt Disney Japan for comics adaptations of Marvel characters as of September 30, 2026. Distribution stops sequentially on each e-book site between September 28 and 30, and physical sales end as well. Already purchased items stay viewable. Deadpool: Samurai and SECRET REVERSE, handled by Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi, are among the works affected.
Ranma 1/2 Season 3 begins broadcasting on the Nippon TV network from October 3, every Saturday at 24:55, with fastest streaming on Netflix immediately after broadcast. MAPPA handles production. Season 1 aired from October 2024 and Season 2 from October 2025. Episode 25, titled "Training DE Dinner," opens the season with a challenge letter from Ryoga arriving just before summer vacation.
Viz Media announced the cast for the Hirayasumi anime on Monday: Yuma Uchida as Hiroto Ikuta, Mayu Takahashi as Natsumi Kobayashi, and Rikako Aikawa as Hanae Wada. Kei Suezawa directs at Production +h, with Naoyuki Asano on character design and Kaori Sawada composing. The first episode premieres October 7 at Japan Society in New York; the series airs on NHK General in January 2027.
The official X account for Yoichi Takahashi's Captain Tsubasa franchise said Monday that Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun Finals will resume serialization on October 6, with new chapters running on Tuesdays. The manga went on hiatus after its 100th chapter in May. It launched on the Captain Tsubasa World website in July 2024 as storyboards. Takahashi announced his retirement from serializing the franchise in 2024.

The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn Tour presented a visual piece produced by NieR:Automata director Yoko Taro and singer Yoko Takahashi. The Blue Lock original manga version SPECIAL MV has been released on the Magazine Channel. It layers original manga illustrations over Ado's "Monstro," the theme song for the live-action film, and carries a freshly recorded voice performance by Fumiya Takahashi, who plays protagonist Yoichi Isagi. Giga and TeddyLoid composed and arranged the song, supercell's ryo wrote the lyrics, and Ado sang vocals. The live-action film passed 1.2 billion yen in box office revenue on September 6.
NHK BS has set the broadcast dates for 'Kono Aji mo Mata Itsuka Koishiku Naru,' the drama adaptation of Moegara's essay starring Takashi Ikuei. Part one airs November 14 at 9:00 PM, part two on November 21 at 9:00 PM. LEO of BE:FIRST appears in the second part, in an unannounced role. A key visual is out.
Konami's Suikoden: The Anime, an adaptation of Suikoden II, will premiere on October 3, 2026. The first episode runs 60 minutes and airs on Tokyo MX at 11:30 p.m. local time, with broadcasts following on Kansai TV, BS Asahi, and 32 other stations nationwide between October 6 and October 9. The third promotional video, released on September 17, previews the ending theme 'closed eye sun' by Kōji Nakamura, featuring Honoka Takahashi of Legal Lily as guest vocalist and lyricist. The video also previews the opening theme 'Kanashimi Sae Otonabite' by amazarashi. The song will be available for streaming from October 4, with pre-add and pre-save open since September 18. Kōji Nakamura also composed the anime's background music, while Go Hiyama joins him on arrangement.

Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday announced the Rumiko Takahashi Fantasy Manga Awards in its combined 42nd and 43rd issue, with entries open to professional and amateur creators until January 11, 2027. Works must run 42 pages or fewer and include at least one fantasy element. Takahashi heads the judging panel alongside editor-in-chief Kazunori Oshima and other Shonen Sunday editors. Results will be announced in the magazine and on the awards website on March 24.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise's official YouTube channel began streaming a special animated video on Monday promoting "KAZUKI TAKAHASHI: YU-GI-OH! ART WORKS," an exhibition devoted to the late manga creator. The event runs from December 12, 2026 to February 21, 2027 at Creative Museum Tokyo. The short brings Yugi and other familiar characters together in Domino City, with Blue-Eyes White Dragon appearing alongside Seto Kaiba. Eri Osada directed, Hiroko Utsumi handled the storyboard, Takahiro Kagami was character designer and 2D drawing director, and Haruka Taira was art director. Konami animation handled production. The project was made by the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series production committee for the 30th anniversary of the original manga's serialization. Takahashi launched Yu-Gi-Oh! in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996; the manga ran until 2004 and was collected in 38 volumes. He died in 2022 at 60.
Amazon's Manga Weekend Festival runs September 11 to 13 with a "Nostalgic 2000s Works" theme and 50 percent point-back on all volumes. Rumiko Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura [New Edition], all 34 volumes, is among the featured titles. The new edition uses new cover illustrations and includes "My Lum x 34," Lum drawings by 34 Shogakukan manga artists, one per volume; those illustrations are not in the digital edition.
An original autographed illustration of Inuyasha's title character by manga creator Rumiko Takahashi sold for 1,833,000 yen (about US$11,440) at a charity auction on Sunday. The non-governmental organization PLAS, which supports African children orphaned by AIDS, held the sale as part of its current round of charity auctions.
The Kazuki Takahashi: Yu-Gi-Oh! Art Works Exhibition announced that purchases of its Ticket with Exclusive Merch bundle will include the three Egyptian God cards, Slifer the Sky Dragon, Obelisk the Tormentor, and The Winged Dragon of Ra, with a special finish based on their original manga designs. The cards cannot be used in the trading card game.
The live-action series of Mitsubachi Miyuki's boys-love manga It's Strictly Business will premiere November 5 on BS Fuji. Sōta Uemura plays Ren Ashihara and Rio Takahashi plays Issei Kuji. Kozue Sasaki and Kana Urara direct, and Uiko Miura writes the script. Yen Press publishes the manga in English and ships the first volume on September 22.
Bandai Namco Entertainment released Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on August 27. The PC version arrives on Steam the next day. The soccer action game features an original story supervised by creator Yoichi Takahashi, based on the World Youth arc, and includes over 110 players and 150 new moves.

The official account for the 'Kazuki Takahashi Original Art Exhibition YU-GI-OH! ART WORKS' announced on August 28 that the exhibition will run from December 12, 2026, to February 21, 2027, at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO. The event presents more than 370 original manuscripts and color illustrations by Kazuki Takahashi, spanning his roles as manga artist, illustrator, designer, and game creator. The display is organized into five chapters: CHARACTER DESIGNER, GAME CREATOR, MONSTER DESIGNER, STORYTELLER, and Journey's End. Each chapter highlights different aspects of Takahashi's work, from iconic characters and weekly game concepts to monster designs from the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City arcs, and materials from the 2016 film 'Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions,' for which he served as original author, scriptwriter, character designer, and executive producer. Some works will be shown for the first time. The venue will also sell merchandise, including relief plates of Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician, and cushions featuring the Stone Tablet of the Lost King's Memories. Admission is by reserved time slot with a cap per session, and tickets go on sale via E-Plus on September 14, 2026. General admission costs 2,200 yen, with reduced prices for students. A special ticket with the bonus item 'Proof of the Duel King' is available for 3,900 yen.
DMM TV announced three new cast members for the second season of the live-action Happy Kanako's Killer Life series on Friday. Hikaru Takahashi plays Nana, Aoi Morikawa plays Ado, and Sayu Suzukawa plays Yui, all assassin colleagues of Kanako. Non and Taisuke Fujigaya reprise their lead roles, and Tsutomu Hanabusa returns to direct and co-write the scripts.
The Hell Mode anime's website announced six new cast members for season two on Friday. Yuuki Sanpei plays Sigur, Yasuyuki Kase plays Lukidral, Kō Bonkobara plays Gatoruga, Satoshi Tsuruoka plays Graster, Takaaki Torashima plays Neftira, and Shinya Takahashi plays Yagof. The seven-member virtual idol group FouRTe Project released its debut album ALL IN on August 5, 2026, through the new music label JOI MUSIC, operated by GENKI Inc. The title track ALL IN is described in the announcement as expressing the group's determination to carve open their destiny after having been nobodies. The official website for ghost - end of night, the new theatrical anime project from director Shingo Natsume and studio Madhouse, unveiled a teaser trailer on Friday that introduces the film's two lead cast members. Mayu Hotta plays Neekei, a 15-year-old girl who has already been selected in a society where people are judged at age 18 on whether the world needs them. Issei Takahashi voices Masu, a man burdened by the loss of his family who wanders while covering his body with tattoos before crossing paths with Neekei. The teaser includes the pair's first voiced scenes and features the insert song "Sugar" by alternative rock band hitsujibungaku, who also perform the film's theme song. The film is set in a near future where labor is no longer necessary, and follows Neekei as she seeks what is real while resisting the order of a content society. Natsume directs and writes the script, marking his first time directing an original anime film. Natsume Ono provides original character designs, Norifumi Kugai handles animation character designs, and Bandai Namco Filmworks distributes. The film opens in Japan on February 11, 2027.
HoYoverse released a male-cast version of the song Moe Chaka Fire for Zenless Zone Zero on July 25. Hugo, Komata Masato, Light, and Severian, voiced by Jun Fukuyama, Kazuyuki Okitsu, Hiroki Takahashi, and Toshiyuki Morikawa, perform the track. The song debuted at Dream Electro Fest, part of the second anniversary HoYoFair event. The video includes a dance segment with 3D models in maid outfits.

K, a member of the group &TEAM, made his film debut as Nagi Seishiro in the live-action Blue Lock film at its world premiere in Tokyo on July 13. During the stage greeting, K expressed gratitude to the cast and staff and asked the audience if he could now call himself an actor, receiving applause. The film opens in Japan on August 7.
Yoshitaka Amano's long-gestating anime project ZAN, based on his 2010 art collection DEVA ZAN, has revealed its staff and will premiere a pilot film at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 3. The project, now listed as a limited anime series, was originally announced as a film in 2010 and rebooted as a series in 2022. The staff includes several mecha anime veterans who previously worked together on Armored Trooper Votoms. Shigeyasu Yamauchi and Toru Yoshida are directing. Ryosuke Takahashi is handling series composition. Moriyasu Taniguchi is chief animation director. Kunio Okawara is mechanical designer. Minoru Nishida is art director. The story follows a young samurai named ZAN from Sengoku-era Japan who is guided by a mysterious girl, Uzume, into a different world governed by the life symbol Trope and its ruler RIKKA. Alongside the announcement, Amano launched a new US-based company, Yoshitaka Amano Inc., headquartered in Los Angeles, which will focus on animation production, art management, and licensing. An immersive exhibition called AMANO is also planned for global expansion starting in 2027.
