The single-player 2.5D FPS Final Recovery SQUAD will get a November update adding Free Play Mode and Arcade Mode, announced during the Wakuwaku Games Tsushin October 2026 Issue live stream. Both modes let players deploy on main story and EX missions under equipment conditions unavailable in the normal story mode, with new equipment included. Another Mission content adds a prequel interception operation and a sequel mission.
Wakuwaku Games has announced it will publish Alien Haruo-kun, an extraction shooter developed by the game production circle Moyashi Giken. The game is set in a submerged world where players gather resources in abandoned facilities while expanding their exploration range and strengthening their equipment. A Steam page was not ready in time, and Wakuwaku Games says it is scheduled to be released soon.
Waku Waku Games has opened a Steam store page for Eldia no Meikyu, a dungeon exploration RPG in development by Turkey. Turkey is the creator of Witchroid Vania: Mahou Shoujo no Fushigi na Bouken, a Metroidvania-style action game with a Very Positive rating across all Steam reviews. Set on the Eldia Islands, the game follows players exploring dungeons with companions to pursue the mystery of a curse. It is planned for release on Steam.
Rebel Wolves will release update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker next week. The patch notes state that blood and gore will no longer be censored in the Japanese Steam version, roughly a month after the studio said it had begun work on the change. The update also adds new features, including skill resets, animal petting, a revised Story mode, subtitle options, and over 1,100 improvements and fixes.
Studio Dragonet used the Waku Waku Games newsletter stream on October 16, 2026 to announce that Lamia's Bambina, suspended in 2025, is back in development. The Steam store page now lists it as a simulation RPG rather than an RPG. Players control Ivy, summoned to the demon world, leading the Lamia tribe against the Harpy tribe, with a Pair System pairing one front-line and one rear-line unit.
Sega released the Kokura Chapter story trailer for STRANGER THAN HEAVEN on October 16, 2026. The RGG Studio action-adventure, headed to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 15, 2027, follows Shin Otou across five eras and five cities from 1915 to 1965. The trailer covers his voyage from America to Kokura and his turn toward becoming a henchman.
Featherweight Games released Chained Beasts on October 16, 2026. The gladiator roguelike supports up to four players in co-op, with characters physically chained to one another inside an arena. Poor coordination lets the chains snag on pillars and obstacles, dragging a team down. Good coordination lets players hook the same chains onto enemies. The game ships on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with Japanese language support. The base price is 2,600 yen, and the PC version is discounted to 1,690 yen through October 30. Platform pricing differs: the PlayStation 5 version costs 3,080 yen and the Nintendo Switch version costs 3,000 yen, while the Xbox Series X|S version is listed at 2,350 yen. As players raise their fame in the arena, new bosses and heroes appear. Skills and purchased equipment can change a run, and medicines that ease wounds carry side effects.

The October 16 Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Times program revealed five new Rikka cards, five Amazoness cards and five Harpie Lady cards, all headed for the IMMORTAL PHOENIX pack on October 31. The five Rikka cards arrive in Master Duel in November. The show also revealed Power of the Duelist, an Overframe Token, and a Full Over Rush Rare for Rush Duel.

QualiArts released a retrospective video of the Shibuya 16-Screen Takeover on the official hololive Dreams YouTube channel on October 16, 2026. More than 30 talents each spoke about their dreams in a roughly 10-minute video shown simultaneously on 16 large Shibuya screens. Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko imprint announced Friday that Ryo Mizuno's Record of Lodoss War: The Crown of the Covenant novel series is resuming. Volume 2 will take more time, so the imprint will publish part of the manuscript on Kakuyomu on October 22 at 5:00 p.m. JST. Kadokawa published volume 1 in September 2019 with illustrations by Hidari.
Perplexity announced it is open-sourcing SPACE, the sandbox platform it moved to in July 2026 after replacing a commercial provider. Perplexity says agent governance is an engineering problem that open source is required to solve, since developers who can inspect and adapt the runtime will find more weaknesses. SPACE has been tested against the network bypass techniques used in a July 2026 incident in which an OpenAI agent hacked Hugging Face.

STAYRESIDENT released the Steam demo for the raising adventure game Fenestra: my focus, her future on October 16, 2026. The game combines a focus-support app with a Princess Maker-style raising format. Players work on real tasks using a Pomodoro timer, and the time they spend concentrating becomes Fenestra's intelligence, sensibility, morality, and other attributes. Fenestra is a girl who has taken up residence on the player's PC. She remembers only her own name at the start and learns about the human world through conversation with the player. When the player starts working, Fenestra sits at her own desk and tackles her assignments. Depending on how she is raised, she grows into different personalities including downer, clingy, and tsundere. The full version plans 9 routes and 20 types of endings. Fenestra is voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa. The demo covers the encounter with Fenestra through Episode 5 of the route where the player builds a relationship with her as an equal partner.
ClearRave will release the occult horror adventure game Resequence: The Orchard for PC via Steam on November 20, 2026. The protagonist, Kisuke Saito, is a man haunted by his missing wife and left without the will to live. Encouraged by his colleague Ashlyn and a high school student, he takes work as a school counselor, where the students he meets are troubled by inexplicable phenomena. Players listen to the events the students have experienced and the pasts they carry, moving toward the paranormal entities that exist beyond the case files and the truth behind his wife's disappearance. Illustrator fracoco handles the visuals, and Re,AER, known for the scenario brand Acacia and Magical Girl Witch Trial, wrote the script. The game is a visual novel advanced by mouse clicks and choices, with branching paths and multiple endings. A free demo covering the opening chapter and one counseling session runs about one hour.
A Baki Dou collaboration with Crystal Gym, produced by comedian Noda Crystal, is running at popup locations at Tokyo Station and in Osaka until October 22. The three comedians Noda Crystal, Aoki Macho, and Shinya appear Baki-fied in illustrations drawn by TMS Entertainment alongside Baki Hanma, Jack Hammer, and Kaoru Hanayama. Goods include acrylic stands at 1,870 yen, big acrylic stands at 4,950 yen, trading cards, and a logo keyholder.
Google Quantum AI reported that it carried out magic state cultivation on the Willow quantum processor and reduced the probability of error to about 1/40 of the uncultivated case. Fidelity, the measure of how close the produced state is to the ideal target, reached about 99.99%. The method prepares an imperfect magic state and discards trials where measurement detects a problem.

Square Enix announced on October 16, 2026 that it will release the board game Malum (Marum) Apple Game around February 2027 and opened an official website. The two-player card game costs 3,300 yen including tax, runs about 10 minutes, and is recommended for ages 10 and up. Players draw cards from an opponent's hand, resolve effects, and race to take three rounds. Game Market 2026 Autumn hosts playtests at the Hobby Japan booth on October 18.
Atlus released LINE animated stickers for Persona 5 The Royal, drawn from scratch by creator Kawaisouni!, known for Opanchu Usagi and Npochamu. Joker and the other Phantom Thieves appear in a cute touch. The stickers cost 120 coins or 320 yen. Collaboration merchandise using Kawaisouni! illustrations follows, with acrylic keychains, multi clear cases, tote bags, mugs, plush mascots, and plush badges. Advance sales are planned at SEGA STORE TOKYO and OSAKA in December 2026 and January 2027, with general sales in January and February 2027.
The BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora anime film opened in Japanese theaters on Friday, and the franchise's official YouTube channel began streaming a second promotional video the same day. The video previews Ave Mujica's song "A Song of Romance." Nichicaline animated the film. The voice cast includes Kanon Takao as Sakiko Togawa/Oblivionis, Yuzuki Watase as Mutsumi Wakaba/Mortis, Rico Sasaki as Uika Misumi/Doloris, Akane Yonezawa as Nyamu Yutenji/Amoris, and Mei Okada as Umiri Yahata/Timoris. A promo video for the next BanG Dream! It's MyGo!!!!! and Ave Mujica sequel television anime is screening after showings of the film. That sequel series will premiere in January 2027 on NTV and 29 affiliated channels in Japan. The Ave Mujica television anime premiered in January 2025, and Crunchyroll streamed that series as it aired. A second promotional video for a film that has just opened usually arrives to capitalize on the first weekend of theatrical screenings.
Alliance Arts announced on October 16 that the planned public demo release for PUKEY GODDESS SHOT TRICK, scheduled for October 19 ahead of the game's December 8 launch on Steam, has been cancelled. Instead, the developer will hold a closed online trial with participants chosen by lottery from applicants on the official Discord. The company gives two reasons: it judged that proper handling and management of posting and streaming restrictions would be difficult under its current operational structure, and it is concerned that works imitating or reproducing the game's expressions and content using AI or similar tools could appear before launch based on the demo's content. The game is a Russian roulette drinking survival title set in the hell bar Pandemonium, where players face the alcohol demon Fam Sûr, who calls the protagonist Darling and loves the player enough to want to kill them.

Toyful Games has released Reason and Rhyme, an online cooperative puzzle adventure with a cartoon art style, on PC via Steam. Two flightless birds stranded on a mysterious island work together to find a way to escape, reading their surroundings and testing what the island allows. Proximity voice chat carries the coordination, since players call out information and time their actions together. The game costs 1,000 yen, with a discount to 850 yen running until October 23.
Nojima will run an in-store campaign for [Alexandros] presents THIS FES '26 in Sagamihara, the two-day festival at Sagamihara Gion Field on October 31 and November 1. Herobeat Studios won the Game of the Fair award at SAGA Barcelona Game Fest 2026, held in Barcelona from October 9 to 11, for Wilderings: The Lost Spring, a roguelite survival adventure due on Xbox Series X|S with Kabam publishing. The game is set in a world where pollution has collapsed the balance of nature, and the player restores polluted regions while fighting and befriending creatures called Hantu.
ANYCOLOR opened four new audition categories for its Virtual Talent Academy on Friday, with applications running through November 9 at noon. The line-up is a male group audition, a skilled vocalist audition, an open-call audition titled "Show Us How You Live!", and the ongoing general VTA audition. Selection takes place in Tokyo and Osaka and includes document screening, multiple interview rounds, and a final interview in Tokyo. Every category requires applicants to continue activities and prioritize schedule adjustments, to take part in selection in Tokyo or Osaka, and to join the training program after passing, which includes lessons in either city. Anyone signed to an agency or label must be able to end that contract promptly after passing. The ongoing audition sets a six-month waiting period after a previous application. Passing does not guarantee a VTuber debut.

XREAL announced the XREAL 1 Pro+ video glasses in the US on October 15, 2026, priced at $599. The model sits above the XREAL One Pro, which went on sale in Japan in July 2025. The presentation event "Demo Day 2026: iGi x LVLZero Tokyo" was held in Tokyo on October 2, 2026, jointly by the iGi indie Game incubator organized by Marvelous and LVLZero Tokyo, organized by MIXI Global Investments. The trailer shows building a cabin with a dog companion, surviving winter, and gathering at a campfire. Square Enix announced SQUARE ENIX GAME CONTEST 2026 on May 20, with a total prize pool of 1 billion yen. Executive officer Yosuke Saito, who supervises the contest office, said the company plans to select winning entries from the submissions. He said the goal is to help new developers get noticed in a market where nearly 20,000 works are released on Steam annually.

An indie developer behind the Steam marketing tool NextWishlist analyzed roughly 8,000 unreleased Steam games with demos, excluding major publishers, and posted the results to r/gamemarketing on October 13. The median follower count was 12. Games at 100 or more followers made up about 14.3% of the total, and 42% of the titles surveyed did not link a single social media account.

The Indirect Shine deck-building roguelike follows Prince Eden in the dying Kingdom of Harma. New support for online co-op has been added. The demo lets players build decks from four attributes and strengthen cards through X/Y Enhancement. Early access is planned within 2026.
