Gugenka, a Sanrio group company specializing in XR content, produced and operated two mixed-reality experiences at Sanrio Fest 2026 in Minato Mirai, held June 27-28 at Pacifico Yokohama. Over the two days, approximately 4,300 visitors participated in the company's MR offerings. The first, "Hello Kitty MR Character Greeting," allowed attendees to pet and high-five a virtual Hello Kitty who appeared in front of them through VR headsets, using Brother Industries' immersive space creation system ROOMDIVE. About 2,200 people experienced this greeting. The second, "Pochacco's Pakupaku Daisakusen -Share the ice cream love!-", was an MR shooting game where participants split into two teams, scooped virtual ice cream, and threw it at opponents alongside characters Pochacco, Hangyodon, and My Melody. VTuber agency Haconect announced that its talent Meido Shirone will appear at OffKai EXPO, North America's largest VTuber-focused convention, held in San Jose, California from July 24 to 26, 2026. Meido Shirone will hold a meet-and-greet at the Digital Gear exhibition booth. The event is scheduled for 5:45 AM Japan Time on July 27 and will be simulcast on YouTube. OffKai EXPO, now in its fifth year, is organized by volunteers and aims to celebrate digital and virtual art subculture. In 2025, the convention expected over 5,000 attendees but exceeded that number, and this year expects even higher turnout. Haconect, which started operations in June 2021, provides management and streaming support for its VTubers. TeraDox, the operator of the 3D Japanese clothing brand Kimonowa, published a report on its VRChat event "Yukata de Nouryoukai" held on July 11, 2026. KADOKAWA has revealed the newly drawn illustrations for the mini shikishi included in the limited edition of "Yoshiyuki Sadamoto Art Collection EVANGELION," scheduled for release on November 10, 2026. The four mini shikishi each feature a newly drawn illustration of Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Soryu, and Kaworu Nagisa. The art collection collects approximately 200 pages of illustrations from the Evangelion series that Yoshiyuki Sadamoto has created over the years. Cocoro Software announced on July 24, 2026, that its roguelike third-person shooter 'Spell Fragments' has been selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's startup support program 'IP360'.
