The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the 2026 International Emmy nominees on Wednesday. Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 is nominated in the Short-Form Series category and the My Melody & Kuromi stop-motion series in Kids: Animation. Winners are announced in New York City on November 23. Both are also prize holders elsewhere: two 17-26 shorts went to Bucheon, and My Melody & Kuromi took Best Animation at Singapore's Asian Academy Creative Awards.
The staff for the Mission: Yozakura Family anime released a new promotional video on Friday naming five cast members: Hochu Otsuka as Alexandryu, Miku Ito as Shura, Yumiri Hanamori as Cyber Demon Lord Giga, Sumire Uesaka as Dr. Mozu, and Naomi Shindoh as Hulang. The video also introduced the character Kosmos Akizakura without naming a voice actor. Part 2 premieres October 11 on MBS, TBS, and 26 other channels.
The official website for the Red River television anime posted the full promotional video and main visual for the show's second part on Friday. The video previews the new opening theme "Akatsuki no Hoshi" by Nana Mizuki, who also voices Ursula in the cast. Ryu Matsuyama performs the new ending theme. The anime premiered in July on NTV and BS NTV, with Crunchyroll streaming it.
Manga Time Kirara Forward announced on Thursday that Norimitsu Kaiho and Kurageso's Akarui Mirai will end in the next issue on October 23. The pair launched the series in the magazine in August 2025, with Kaiho writing and Kurageso drawing. Houbunsha shipped the second compiled volume on July 10. The story follows Mirai, a girl who struggles to socialize, and a foul-mouthed AI from the future.
The second season of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World has cast Shiki Aoki as Maria Bradley, Rebecca's younger sister, and Kazuyuki Okitsu as Marius Basset, one of the Seven Great Magicians. The anime premieres on TBS on October 8 at 1:23 a.m., then BS11 on October 9 at 11:00 p.m. Crunchyroll streams it as it airs. Zero-G animates, with Masahiro Takata returning to direct.
Kadokawa revealed four more cast members and a new visual for the television anime of Ayune Araragi's Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love. Haruki Ishiya plays Danjuro Iwata, Takuma Nagatsuka plays Masato Nakatani, Hiiro Ishibashi plays Chikai Matsumoto, and Yu Wakui plays Rena Yamakawa. The anime debuts in January 2027, with Riko Akechi and Shuichiro Umeda as the leads.
Tokyo MX announced that the Gelpiyo television anime, based on industrial company Taica's mascot character, will get a sequel premiering on the Tokyo MX1 channel on October 21. The regular cast returns. New guest cast includes Park Yu Chun as a fortuneteller and RIP SLYME artist SU as himself. Silent Siren performs the opening theme, NEVER END ROLL the ending theme.
Lobstudio announced on Wednesday that Zombie Police: Midsummer Unhappy New Year will launch for PC via Steam on November 22. A Nintendo Switch version follows at a later date. The comedy-mystery adventure puts players in the role of zombie detective Akemi Kabane, working with Detective Zomby and Yasu Tamura to investigate a VTuber tied to a horrific incident and a supernatural threat to Shimofuri Village.
Kadokawa's Monthly Shonen Ace announced Tuesday that Yu Hibari's Watashi de Dotei Suteta Kuse ni light novel series is getting a manga adaptation, drawn by Shusei Kirisaki, launching September 29 on the Shonen Ace Plus website. The post-breakup love comedy follows childhood friends Kota and Sakura, and turns on Sakura's teasing about Kota losing his virginity to her.
Magilumiere Co. Ltd. creator Yū Aoki said on Friday that she and Ya Boy Kongming! creator Yuto Yotsuba have launched a new boat racing manga titled Boat Girl on the Piccoma platform. Yotsuba is credited with the original concept. Aoki wrote Magilumiere with artist Sekka Iwata; Yotsuba writes Ya Boy Kongming! with artist Ryō Ogawa, and co-launched Tokyo Kinoko in August 2025.
The anime of Shun Numa's Super Psychic Policeman Chojo manga has a second promotional video and its theme songs. M!LK perform the opening, "That's! Chojo"; Shifuku Poncho perform the ending, "Mata Ashita." The series premieres October 6 at 11:00 p.m. on Kansai TV, Fuji TV, and affiliated channels, with Yusuke Kobayashi as Meguru Chojo and Riko Aono as Nao Ippongi.
Matsuri Isora announced on Thursday that a new novel, Bōkyaku no Curse Knight (Curse Knight of Oblivion), will ship on November 13 with illustrations by Shirotaka, the illustrator of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. The bookstore e-hon teases the premise of a hidden power described as the most powerful curse, and frames the book as a refreshing knight fantasy about a tenacious boy.
The 43rd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine announced that Shuichi Shigeno's Subaru and Subaru manga will take a break and return in the magazine's 48th issue on October 26. Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga and will release the first compiled volume in English on April 6, 2027.
The fourth season of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- ended with a 45-minute extended finale broadcast on September 30, 2026. The final episode, the 19th of the season and the 85th overall, is titled Shaula / Hero. It marks Rem's return to the screen after roughly six years of story absence, and the episode prompted an epilogue visual released on the official account after broadcast. The art carries the line Rem, I wanted to see you, and shows Rem looking at Natsuki Subaru. Comments arrived from Yusuke Kobayashi, who voices Subaru, and Inori Minase, who voices Rem. Both speak about Rem's awakening and about what comes next for the series. The season's Recapture Arc had aired since August 12, 2026, with Masahiro Shinohara directing and WHITE FOX on animation production.
Kadokawa announced on October 1, 2026 that its Creator Support Program has entered a partnership with XING's Karaoke JOYSOUND for STREAMER. Creators using CSP, whether individuals or corporate-affiliated, will be able to use the karaoke service's higher-tier plans at a special price. Those plans carry a larger song lineup and support monetization. CSP has worked on projects that used the karaoke service before, including December 2025's Challenge to the World's No. 1 Singing Stream Relay and the 2026 regular program Virtual Utajiman. Karaoke JOYSOUND for STREAMER supports singing covers and singing streams on YouTube, Twitch, Niconico Douga, and TikTok LIVE. It gives access to more than 40,000 songs and starts at 3,500 yen including tax for 30 days. CSP launched in March 2022. Its participating channels number more than 780, with cumulative subscribers above 68 million as of March 2026.
The Tokyo District Court dismissed a lawsuit voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda filed against TikTok's operator over videos that allegedly used AI to imitate his voice, according to a ruling handed down Wednesday. Tsuda had sought removal of the videos, but the court found they had already been deleted. The Singapore-based company that runs TikTok in Japan said the videos were taken down after the suit was filed in November 2025, arguing Tsuda no longer had a legal interest in the case. The filing described an unidentified account owner who posted at least 188 videos on urban legends and conspiracy theories between July 2024 and September 2025, with revenue estimated at 500,000 to 750,000 yen (about US$3,000 to US$4,500) per month. Tsuda's team argued the narration imitated his smooth, low-pitched voice and misled viewers. Presiding Judge Aya Takahashi found unauthorized use of a performer's voice can infringe publicity rights when the voice has commercial appeal and is used to exploit it.
Toshio Masuda, the director and screenwriter who supervised the original Space Battleship Yamato television series and went on to direct several of its theatrical films, died of old age on August 26. He was 98. Mainichi Shimbun and Yomiuri Shimbun both reported the death. Masuda was born in Kobe in October 1927. He joined Nikkatsu in 1954, after working for Shintoho, and made his directorial debut in 1958 with Kokoro to Nikutai no Tabi. At Nikkatsu he directed Rusty Knife, Red Handkerchief, and Red Quay. He co-directed the Japanese sequences of the 1970 film Tora! Tora! Tora! and was nominated for the Best Director Award at the 4th and 13th Japan Academy Film Prizes, for The Battle of Port Arthur and Company Executives. In anime, he oversaw the scripts and supervised the 1974 Star Blazers television series, directed the 1977 Space Battleship Yamato compilation film, and worked as director and screenwriter on the 1978 film Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato, the 1979 film Space Battleship Yamato: The New Voyage, and the 1980 film Be Forever Yamato.
Bandai Namco Filmworks will host GUNDAM-Con2027 SIDE MAKUHARI at Makuhari Messe from January 9 to 11, 2027. The company confirmed stage details and opened the second ticket lottery, which runs from October 2 to October 12, 2026. Adults pay 5,000 yen and children 3,000 yen. DAY1's headline stage covers the RG Project, the Gundam series' new cross-media initiative. It will reveal the latest information on the action game Gundam Rogue Orbit, which releases March 5, 2027. Kenji Kamiyama, director of the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, and voice actor Takuya Otsuka, who plays protagonist Azumi Rei, will appear. The anime begins airing in April 2027. DAY2 hosts the finale of the Gundam GWX 30th Anniversary Project, with Tomokazu Seki, Hikaru Midorikawa, and Wataru Takagi on stage. The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO stage is also planned. Bandai will release a new gashapon figure brand called CAPSULEVERSE in the fifth week of October 2026, starting with two sets priced at 800 yen per play. The first set, CAPSULEVERSE Mobile Suit Gundam 01, has four types: the Gundam, Char's Custom Zaku II, Amuro Ray, and Char Aznable. The second set, CAPSULEVERSE Godzilla, also has four types: Godzilla (1974), Mechagodzilla (1974), Godzilla (1954), and Godzilla (2023). Each figure comes with a relief-style background that shows the world of its work, and the figure stands against that backdrop. Placing two figures from the same set back to back lets their battles cross over inside the capsule. Bandai has not yet announced further sets beyond these two. Both sets are scheduled for the same release window.
Bhaskara, who runs the indie game development circle Crush-vAdin, opened the Steam store page for the mass-extermination FPS NECROFESTMASSACRE on September 27, 2026. The player controls a four-legged corpse doll called a Necrotech, described as the Shrine Maiden of the Flame Cavity. The game is set in an eternal closed space called the Rotting Cage, where the player must eliminate a horde of enemy Necrotechs spawned by Maggot Princess Lily. The protagonist fights with machine guns mounted on both arms, a cannon on the abdomen, and heat vented from the chassis. The enemy count is 10,000. The game is scheduled for release soon on PC via Steam. Bhaskara has worked on multiple Japan-made FPS games, and the Necrotech term was coined by creator Megurimu Haruyo.
NEXON Games IO Division's RX Studio showed Faledoria, its new bishoujo title, at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which ran from September 17. The build let visitors walk a cycle from the Tasogare-kan hall into battle and back for character interaction. Kim Yong-ha, general producer, and Mitsukiyo, who handles music production and heads STUDIO ALOH, answered questions about how the project took shape. Kim said the idea came around 2022 and was made concrete in 2023, with full development starting at the beginning of 2024, roughly two years of production. Faledoria is planned for PC, mobile, and console. Kim also produces Blue Archive, and Mitsukiyo has written music for it since around 2019. Kim said he found Mitsukiyo on the music service SoundCloud before they met in person.
Banpresto is adding the Strike Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED to its Genkitoppa prize figure series. The figure stands approximately 28cm tall and is set to roll out sequentially to game centers and amusement facilities nationwide starting Friday, September 25, 2026. It is the first protagonist mobile suit from the series to appear in this line, which is built around the concept of "exceeding the limits of robot prize figures." The Strike Gundam is rendered in a form that conveys its defining silhouette. Product details are listed on the Banpresto Navi page. Reactions online include "Seriously!?", "I absolutely want it," and "This is so my taste." Some commenters are asking for a Deactivate Mode version and a Strike Rouge release.
Nippon Ichi Software's 2D side-scrolling action game GOBBLE releases on September 24, 2026 for PC via Steam and Windows, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PS5. The game follows Luto, a boy who dreams of becoming a hero, and Kamel, an arrogant bird-like monster who speaks human language and treats Luto as a servant in exchange for his help. Combat centers on preying: after Luto defeats an enemy, its corpse remains, and approaching it lets players gain prey hearts that act as health. Preying at the moment an enemy attacks triggers counter prey, which swallows the enemy whole regardless of remaining health. Certain enemies also yield traits that can be stolen, such as Flame, Stick, and Jet, and these traits serve as attacks and as tools for navigating stage traps. Players can hold only one trait at a time, so acquiring a new one means trading away the current one.
Aniplex released the 90-second final trailer for the theatrical anime Mahoyo on September 30, confirming Soujuurou Shizuki, voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi, among the cast. The same day, a special program announced the theme song: "Yoru to Ao" by supercell, with lyrics, composition, and arrangement by ryo and vocals by Yanagi Nagi. Mahoyo is based on the TYPE-MOON visual novel written by Kinoko Nasu and is animated by ufotable. The film opens in Japanese theaters on November 20, with screenings set for 347 theaters nationwide and an overseas rollout beginning with a U.S. release on January 29 that covers more than 45 countries and regions. Advance tickets go on sale October 2 in two versions: a newly drawn character visual by original character designer Hirokazu Koyama and a special key visual, with an A5 acrylic plate bonus offered through Aniplex Online.
Ghost Ship Games will release Season 7 for Deep Rock Galactic in December 2026, the studio announced during The Big Break Showcase 2026 streamed on September 30 Japan time. The update is free and carries the title CONTINGENCY PROTOCOL. It adds about 20 overclocks that mainly upgrade secondary weapons, which broadens the build options for each dwarf class. The perk system also gets reworked, with 11 new perks and adjustments to existing ones. A new Perk Proficiency system lets players spend leftover perk points once all perks are unlocked; a dedicated slot opens and excess points raise base stats slightly. Other additions include paint for traversal tools and an event built around crash accidents. Ghost Ship Games also said Season 8 and a new expansion DLC will arrive in summer 2027. Season 8 is expected to be smaller in scale, and the DLC details will be shared later. Deep Rock Galactic is a co-op shooter for up to four players.
Shaun Hammond Business Solutions Limited released Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional for PC on Steam on September 28. The game is a Vampire Survivors-like roguelike shooter set inside an infected family computer, where players move a mouse cursor to defeat viruses and adware. A single run lasts roughly 30 to 40 minutes. Players collect experience points and keys by moving through folders, then double-click files to upgrade weapons and abilities. The game has 24 weapon types, including Pinball, Solitaire, and Firewall, each modifiable with dedicated Drivers. It also has 33 file types and 62 plugin types. Suspicious advertisements and warning pop-ups appear during combat and must be cleared while avoiding enemies. The level-up screen is styled as a document-creation-software window. Difficulty spans five levels, from Protocol I to V. A free demo released in February 2026 holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam, with 98 percent of 614 reviews positive.
ChillyRoom and CritTeam announced on September 24 that No Such Place will enter early access on October 14, 2026, for PC via Steam. The game is a 2.5D top-down PvE extraction shooter where players take the role of agents from the Unknown Research Association and deploy into other-dimensional spaces called Dimensional Fragments. Solo play is supported alongside online co-op for up to four players. Exploration areas include abandoned facilities, outposts, a burning forest, and highland snowfields. Players collect weapons, medicines, equipment, ancient relics, biological samples, and encrypted documents, then extract within a time limit. Death during a mission means losing carried items except those stored in a safe box. A Gunsmith weapon modification system lets players combine gun bodies with magazines, barrels, grips, stocks, and scopes. A Corruption mechanic can grant equipment special properties, sometimes allowing attachments that are normally incompatible to be combined. A demo is currently available on Steam, and inventory and characters carry over to early access while mission progress resets. Japanese in-game display and subtitles are planned.
Publisher Sano-gumi opened the Steam store page for the horror novel game Yumemiru Sakura no Sotsugyoushiki, developed by the circle Aa Uo Uguzu Pegi, with a release date of October 22, 2026 and a price of 550 yen. The story follows three close friends, Sakura, Shion, and Hina, on the day of a graduation ceremony. The player chooses whether Sakura talks to Shion or Hina first, and the conversation content changes with that order. After both conversations end, the screen fades to black and returns to the title screen. Each loop alters the dialogue and presentation until the ceremony turns into a nightmare. The Steam version is a commercial release based on the free browser version that appeared on unityroom on August 27, 2026, and it adds new stills, new scenes, a bonus episode, short stories, achievements, a jukebox, and controller support. Playtime is about 30 minutes to 1 hour. The browser version stays free after release.
Arc System Works released Kunio-kun's Survivors of the Dead on Apple Arcade on October 1, 2026. The game is a survivor-style action title in the Kunio-kun series, with more than 20 playable characters unlocked as the player progresses, including Kunio and Riki. Players fight off zombie hordes using two-button controls with movement, or a point-and-click control scheme where attacks trigger automatically. Defeating zombies earns experience for level-ups that add or strengthen moves and upgrade stats. Equipment goes into six slots, including school uniform, baggy pants, belt, shoes, accessories, and back button, to permanently strengthen stats. Up to two AI-controlled companions can join the player. Apple Arcade also began offering Terraria+ the same day. Terraria+ is the Apple Arcade version of Re-Logic's sandbox adventure game, with the included version being 1.4.5 Bigger and Boulder, plus collaboration content from Dead Cells and Palworld, and multiplayer for up to eight players via Game Center or local Wi-Fi. Apple Arcade costs 900 yen per month with tax included.
ASUS JAPAN released six products in its ROG Edition 20 line on October 2, 2026, marking 20 years of the ROG brand. The centerpiece is the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Edition 20 graphics card, priced at 1,199,800 yen including tax. It carries 32GB of video memory, a 6.67-inch 2K curved AMOLED display on its side, and a four-fan cooling setup with a vapor chamber and liquid metal. The motherboard ROG Crosshair X870E Edition 20, built on AMD's X870E chipset and sold in a bundle with the ROG RYUJIN 360 Edition 20 cooler, costs 599,800 yen. ASUS also released the ROG Thor 3000W Titanium III Edition 20 power supply, the ROG GR20 Edition 20 open-frame case, and the ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Edition 20 Wi-Fi 7 router. Sofmap began selling five of the models in limited quantities through its online store, with prices listed on each product page.
Toei Animation's Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a reconstructed version of the original Dragon Ball Super anime, will begin airing on Fuji TV and its affiliates on October 11 at 11:15 p.m. JST, taking over the timeslot previously held by One Piece. Crunchyroll will stream the series with subtitles starting October 11 in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with new weekly episodes simulcast with the Japanese broadcast. Netflix will stream the series in the United States on October 17, and in selected countries October 14. In Japan, Amazon Prime Video and U-NEXT will stream episodes 30 minutes after broadcast. The first episode will screen in advance at a Dragon Ball Super: Beerus panel at New York Comic Con on October 8. The staff includes composition and direction arrangement by Matsuto Seya, character design by Tadayoshi Yamamuro, editing by Eiichi Nishimura, compositing direction by Yosuke Motoki, and music by Norihito Sumitomo. Koichi Yamadera returns as Beerus. MEGATERA ZERO performs the opening theme, and VK Blanka performs the ending theme. The series features new and redrawn cuts, a reconstructed story, and re-recorded dubbing.
Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream nine anime for the fall 2026 season, including Super Psychic Policeman Chojo, Dandivine, and Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers. The slate runs from October 2 with Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc through October 11 with Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers. Magic Repo Man, From Far Away, and The Cold Sato-san is Only Sweet to Me arrive October 3, 4, and 6. A Certain Dark Item, HORROR COLLECTOR, and the Chinese-animated Paw & Palaces fill the October 9 and 10 slots. Crunchyroll also began streaming Detective Conan: The Counterfeit Crime Case of Ultra 30, which the outlet describes as the Detective Conan franchise's first new two-hour special in 10 years. Super Psychic Policeman Chojo adapts Shun Numa's manga about psychic officer Meguru Chojo and his partner Nao Ippongi. The anime premieres October 6 at 11:00 p.m. on Kansai TV and Fuji TV.
Gokurakuyu Holdings is running a collaboration between the Gokurakuyu and RAKU SPA bathhouse chain and the film Detective Precure! The Mysterious Garden and the Two Secrets, scheduled from October 1 to October 20. The tie-in uses newly drawn illustrations of four Detective Pretty Cure members, including Cure Arcana and Cure Eclair, who appear in their movie-only Future Form. Merchandise includes a muffler towel that costs 1,100 yen on top of the admission fee, a random trading sento key acrylic carabiner at 1,100 yen, trading can badges at 550 yen, acrylic stands at 1,980 yen each, acrylic hair clips at 990 yen each, flake stickers at 1,100 yen per eight-sheet pack, and a clear file set at 1,100 yen. Buyers get a mini illustration card for every 2,000 yen of goods purchased. The menu runs the widest, from Anna's Hanamaru Naruto Ramen at 1,650 yen to Ruruka's Chicken Steak Plate at 2,200 yen.
Universal Studios Japan will hold its Universal Cool Japan 2027 event in stages starting December 2, 2026. The first lineup announcement is a Sailor Moon collaboration tied to the park's 25th anniversary. Sailor Moon the Miracle 4-D ~Moon Palace Edition Deluxe~ returns as a theater show, and Sailor Moon x Story Ride runs for the first time. Both run December 2 to April 5, 2027. The second announcement is The Apothecary Diaries, which returns for a second USJ collaboration after 2025. Its new program runs February 10 to June 30, 2027 and is a full renewal of the 2025 Mystery Walk, tied to the film The Apothecary Diaries: The Secret Treasure of the Departed Consort, which opens December 11. Universal Studios Japan says original food and goods are planned, with details to be announced later.
SEEC announced on September 30, 2026 that it will end service for the smartphone app Tasokare Hotel -Tsubomi- on November 30, 2026 at 12:00. The game is a sequel to the TV anime Tasokare Hotel and is set in the Twilight Hotel, a place that exists between life and death. It follows a new protagonist, Yumeku Hachiya, and other characters. The app launched on March 31, 2025 and will close after about one year and eight months. In-app content received its final update on September 30, and the story will end inside the app without being completed. Sales of paid items stopped on October 1 at 12:00, and refund applications opened at the same time. Refund requests are accepted until November 30 at 11:59, and after applying, paid items can no longer be used. New installations from stores are scheduled to stop after November 30 at 12:00.
Invisible Walls released Neighbors: Suburban Warfare out of early access on September 30, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and made the base game free-to-play. The first-person 4v4 party brawler sets players as residents of a district called Hartsville, who fortify their own house and raid the neighbors'. Console versions and crossplay between Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S arrived with version 1.0. A new neighbor named Gwen, a cheerleader-styled attack support who boosts ally attack power and amplifies damage enemies take, joins the roster alongside a new house called Suburban Home. The Destruction mode was reworked: resource elements tied to house reinforcement were removed, the shop was simplified, items are shared by both teams, and perks shared by all characters were dropped. The sprint key is gone and base movement speed is higher. The developer expects average match times to fall from about 20 minutes to around 10 to 15 minutes.
Kinokuniya plans to release a Suica Penguin "Mascot Bag" at the end of October 2026. The plush mascot carries a carabiner on its head so it can be clipped to a bag, and it wears a Kinokuniya eco bag slung over its shoulder. That eco bag can be pulled out from the penguin's back and used. Kinokuniya describes the item as the last Suica Penguin merchandise the company will release. Price, product specifications, and the exact release date have not been disclosed and will be announced later. The release timing may change, and Kinokuniya asks customers not to contact stores about product information or the release date. The Suica Penguin is the image character for JR East's transit IC card Suica. The character is set to graduate at the end of fiscal 2026, and JR East opened a public vote on three candidate designs for a new image character on September 8. Grasshopper Manufacture announced that it became independent from NetEase Games as of October 1, 2026. The Tokyo studio, founded in 1998 and led by representative director Goichi Suda, has more than 25 years of development experience and more than 25 titles, including killer7, The Silver Case, and the No More Heroes series. It became a subsidiary of GungHo Online Entertainment in 2013 and came under NetEase through a share transfer agreement in 2021. Grasshopper Manufacture released its latest title, ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN, in February 2026 and marked its 28th anniversary in March. The studio said the decision followed sufficient discussion with NetEase Games and its cooperation, and that it will keep a good relationship and cooperate mutually if opportunities arise. It said it has built up self-publishing know-how and will keep planning and developing titles with its own style. Procedures such as changes among officers are underway.
Saber Interactive brought a playable build of Turok: Origins to Tokyo Game Show 2026, where press tried a jungle mission and a Tyrannosaurus boss fight. The game is a prequel to the original Turok and supports switching between third-person and first-person views, plus online co-op for up to three players. Players pick one of three Primal Forms: Raven, Cougar, or Bison. Each form has a dedicated melee weapon and its own finisher animations. In the demo, loadouts were fixed, but the full version lets players equip any weapon regardless of form and choose from more than 15 Echo Sync abilities. Character growth runs through Primal Form skill trees, Talismans dropped by bosses, Mutagens found in the world, and more than 270 Mods for weapons and Echo Syncs. The main campaign is roughly 12 hours. Turok: Origins is scheduled for release in spring 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Tokyo Disneyland previewed a new entertainment program, The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour, on September 29, 2026, ahead of its opening on September 30. The show is centered on the live vocals of the four-member dance and vocal group The D-Groovationz4 and runs about 25 minutes, performed four to five times a day. It replaces Club Mouse Beat, which ended on March 31, and is staged at the Showbase in Tomorrowland. Alongside Mickey and Minnie, Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph and Baymax from Big Hero 6 appear, marking their first stage show appearances at Tokyo Disney Resort. The set includes Disney songs with inventive arrangements plus original songs, and worlds evoking Wreck-It Ralph and Moana 2. The show also features a microphone-stand routine set to It's a Small World, and in the finale the performers change costumes and bring the audience into the closing number.
The official X account for Kyosuke Kamishiro and illustrator Takayaki's My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex (Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta) announced on Wednesday that the light novel series will end with its 14th volume, scheduled for release on December 1, 2026. Kamishiro began the story on the Kakuyomu website in August 2017, and Kadokawa started print publication with Takayaki's illustrations in December 2018. The 13th volume shipped in October 2025. Rei Kusakabe's manga adaptation has run on Kadokawa's ComicWalker since December 2019, with Udon Entertainment handling the English manga license and J-Novel Club holding the light novel license. The novels follow Mizuto Irido and Yume Ayai, former middle school partners who become stepsiblings after their parents remarry. An anime adaptation aired on AT-X and Tokyo MX in July 2022, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it aired.
A wave of Suica Penguin merchandise and seasonal food is on sale in Japan, tied to the character's planned retirement at the end of fiscal 2026 in March 2027. Hotel Metropolitan in Ikebukuro is selling three autumn sweets at its first-floor Cake & Bakery Shop: a Chestnut Cake with a chestnut-shaped penguin face for 720 yen, a Pudding with Ebisu pumpkin and Jersey milk for 500 yen, and a Season Cake with pear and Valrhona Caramelia chocolate for 650 yen, all available through November 30. A collaboration with Nagano shichimi shop Nemoto Yawataya Isogoro offers a three-can Shichimi set with an original sticker for 3,800 yen, limited to 5,000 sets, sold at NewDays locations in Nagano Prefecture since September 16. Omusubi Dokoro Honnoriya and Homareya have a Puffy Sticker Rice Ball Set for 1,480 yen, or 1,280 yen with a transportation IC card, from September 28 while supplies last.
Visual Arts announced on September 28, 2026 that its Key brand will release Summer Pockets Sunnyside Stories on December 18. The visual novel adapts "Summer Pockets Short Stories: In the Summer's Dazzling Light," a project published on the Summer Pockets official website in 2018, and adds new material. It is an omnibus of 16 episodes set on Torishirojima, the island from Summer Pockets, and most episodes can be read in any order. The deluxe edition costs 10,780 yen, the standard edition 3,960 yen, and the download edition 2,970 yen, all tax included. Character design is credited to Na-Ga, Fumuyun, Izumi Tsubasu, and Yuunon Nagayama. Yuu Niijima, Kai, and Hasama, who worked on Summer Pockets, wrote the scenarios. Konomi Suzuki sings the new opening theme, "Luster piece," with lyrics by Niijima and composition and arrangement by Shuhei Ohashi.
Toei Animation on September 24, 2026 named two new characters for Rakuen Tsuiho -The Stellar Angel-, its visual novel sequel to the 2014 film Rakuen Tsuiho -Expelled from Paradise-. Aladia, voiced by Hiromi Sakurai, is a former Deva security officer who stole the top-secret file Gray Goo and fled to the surface. Naama, voiced by Yui Sakakibara, is a rookie officer ordered to capture her. The game ships November 26, 2026 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with Japanese and English text switchable in-game. Shotaro Teshirogi writes the scenario. Rie Kugimiya returns as protagonist Angela Balzac, who now lives on the surface with Dingo, voiced by Shinichiro Miki. The setting is the year 2400, where parallel plants spread across the ruined surface and giant worms attack nearby settlements. The core K2-SYSTEM asks players at key points to pick between Kizuna and Kakugo, shaping Angela and branching the story toward multiple endings. A repost campaign for original QUO cards runs from September 24 to October 1.
Kadokawa released the first teaser trailer for The Fake Alchemist television anime on September 25, 2026. The teaser confirms Yōhei Matsuoka as Paracelsus and Miyari Nemoto as Nora. Takeo Takahashi is chief director and Hijiri Sanpei directs. Kenta Ihara handles series composition, Yuka Takashina designs characters, and Luke Standridge composes the music. Passione animates. The story adapts the manga by writer Jiro Sugiura and artist Umemaru, which launched on Kadokawa's KadoComi site in June 2023 and is ongoing. Kadokawa published the fifth compiled volume on February 20. Yen Press publishes the English edition in print. The teaser centers on the first meeting between Paracelsus and Nora in the city-state of Orichalconia, a place where alchemy and magic are part of daily life. An earlier announcement came in June 2026. No premiere date or streaming acquisition has been announced.
The television anime of Kyu Takahata and Yuji Kaba's Now That We Draw manga released its first full promotional video and character visuals on Thursday, and the video sets a January 2027 premiere. Shunsuke Ishikawa is directing at ROLL2, with Deko Akao supervising and writing the series scripts and Hiromi Nakagawa designing the characters. The newly announced staff includes Sub-Character Design by Momoka Izumi, Color Key Artist Yurie Matsuura, Art Director Arei Saiga, Compositing Director of Photography Hayato Kifune, 3D CG by Masashi Watanabe, Editing by Mai Hasegawa, Sound Director Fumiyuki Go, Sound Effects by Ryuta Nakahara, and Music by Yoshiaki Miura, with Infinite producing. Ayumu Murase and Sayumi Suzushiro star as Yuki Uehara and Niina Miyamoto, the two aspiring manga creators who agree to a fake relationship to gain the romantic experience their work lacks. The manga runs in Hakusensha's Young Animal. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it, and the eighth Japanese volume is due September 29.
Konami released Main Story Chapter 3 of Suikoden STAR LEAP on September 24, 2026, for the mobile RPG's iOS and Android versions. It is the first new story content added since the game launched on August 7. In Chapters 1 and 2, the protagonist and Hisui met the Three Great Guides of an organization that aims to erase the power of the Runes. Chapter 3 opens with the discovery that Shanpia, a land of martial arts treated as legend, exists. Guided by Rihyo and Ranrinten, the party travels there to seek an alliance against Tenryu's organization. Rachana, a Shanpia instructor, opposes the alliance. Shanpia is described as a place where fish swim in the sky and where seven secret hot springs are said to lie. Tenryu attacks the land, then withdraws and vows to return in three days. The protagonist then trains under Rachana before the rematch. Domestic mobile release is out now, with overseas mobile and PC versions planned.
Premium Bandai has set September 25 to 29 as a preorder window for four Metal Robot Spirits and Robot Spirits Gundam releases, all ordered through its own store. The Metal Robot Spirits Nu Gundam Exclusive HWS & Display Parts Set opens September 25 at 16:00 for 12,100 yen, shipping March 2027, and pairs armor and weapon parts with maintenance deck style display parts. On September 29 at 16:00, the Metal Robot Spirits (Ka signature) Enhanced ZZ Gundam enters a third preorder round at 26,400 yen for June 2027 shipment, and the Full Armor Parts Set for that figure enters a second round at 13,200 yen for May 2027. The Robot Spirits Qubeley Mass Production Type Marking Plus takes a second round the same day at 35,200 yen for April 2027. The Metal Robot Spirits Gundam Double X runs as a lottery instead, at 24,200 yen with applications until 23:00 on October 18, winners in late October, and shipping in March 2027.
Logitech announced a full refresh of its PRO series of gaming devices on September 24, 2026, at the Logitech G PLAY 2026 event. Sofmap has begun taking pre-orders for five of the new models on its official online store, led by the competitive gaming mouse PRO X3 SUPERSTRIKE. The mouse is an improved version of the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE, with the Haptic Inductive Trigger System, actuation point adjustment in 10 levels, rapid trigger reset point in 5 levels, and haptic feedback in 6 levels. Logitech lists a direct sales price of 32,450 yen including tax and a release date of October 15. The pre-order slate also includes the keyboard PRO X2 RAPID at 35,750 yen, the headset PRO X3 LIGHTSPEED at 40,480 yen, the gaming mouse pad PRO X CONTROL at 9,900 yen, and the USB microphone YETI 2 at 26,180 yen. The PRO X CONTROL is the first mouse pad in the PRO series.
